Dirty and unsanitary, nothing special

by Bartawee at Citysearch

Came here several times because it's close and needed a new vet. I can deal w/ the older facility, even though it's so run down in the customer areas makes you wonder what the back looks like. Finally decided I did not care for Dr Berger's yank and crank style of dealing w/ animals. I heard her yelling/cussing once in the back area when they were dealing with a big dog. Sure don't want the vet cussing at my dog, so I'm going elsewhere.

Thelmalouise

August, 2010

I want to commend Dr. Andrea Berger and her wonderful staff for the love and support I was given when my beloved rabbit Benji, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was faced with one of the most difficult decisions I would ever make in my life with a pet.

When I went to this hospital, I had high hopes that he only had ear mites, and would be bringing him home that very same day, leaving the vet. hospital with antibiotics for his ear. (there was no chance-I needed to switch gears and FAST...I never thought I would be making a decision to have Benji euthanized, not be bringing him home to his little pet world that was still awaiting him, along with his bunny brother that saw him leave that morning...This was going to be the last time his b-brother and I would see him alive.)

When Dr. Berger had diagnosed Benji, she gave me several options on the decisions I could make for him. She did not say right away that he would need to be euthanized. She even told me she would search for a Vet. who does rabbit surgeries (due to this not being her field of expertise "rabbit surgeries"), however, the surgery would most likely prolong his life for possibly another two-four months, but he would still eventually loose his life due to this dreadful cancer and begin to suffer the effects.

I knew then in my heart the only humane decision was to have him put "to sleep" while he was still bouncing around, looking like the sweet, Benji I knew and he still had an appetite. I did not want him to begin suffering just so I could spend more time with him. This cancer would eventually and very quickly spread to his brain. I let Dr. Berger know my decision for Benji.

Dr. Berger let me spend some time alone making the decision to have him put "to sleep", she came back into the room, brought me Benji, still alive and thank God above, two of my friends had arrived to the Hospital by this time to give moral support. It was his time to go. (I was a wreck)

After everything was over, and Benji was still in my arms, Dr. Berger told me I could stay with him for as long as I needed. She and her staff were so compassionate. I remember Kelly, the vet. technician coming in, not knowing what condition I would be in or how I would re-act, gave me the biggest hug and expressed her condolences to loosing my Benji.

Later, a condolence card was mailed to me from Dr. Berger & staff that is now next to Benji's urn.

I want to express that I found Dr. Andrea Berger/Central Animal Hospital in Campbell by chance and couldn't have gotten luckier.

I give this team five stars & highly recommend them with flying colors to anyone looking for a vet.

I now take my other pets here. I've since been back to bring my other pets for exams.

I have been able to meet Dr. Catherine Hedden, who is very familiar with rabbits herself. She also had two rabbits (twelve years!) Another HUGE reason for me to continue visiting Central Animal Hospital, I feel very confident bringing my pets here.

Thank you Dr. Andrea Berger and Team!

Staff and Dr. Berger

by Peruse at Citysearch

If you want a friendly welcome, you won't get it here. the staff has more of an attitude of "I hate my job". Engage them in small talk? They aren't having it. Because, quite frankly, you're bothering them.

Dr. Berger seems friendly enough until you question her practices. She will not try to save you any money. Whatever you take your animal in for, she will immediately tell you need blood work, poop sample, urine sample, xray, ultrsound, CATscan, etc.

Your pet needs medication? Better off getting a prescription and ordering online. If they can't talk you into all the above procedures, they will gauge you on the prescriptions.

Better off going somewhere else.

Pet Care Unmatched

by doglover28 at Citysearch

The staff at central was great. They are caring and made me and my pug feel like part of the Central Family!! The hospital was clean and they made me feel comfortable and kept me informed all during my dogs stay. I also loved that they had an acupuncturist and radiologist on staff! I will for sure go back my Joey loved it there!
