Intimate atmosphere, friendly staff, great food.
Komatsu is a warm, down-to-earth restaurant. You need to sit at the sushi bar and watch the owner, Ken, do his thing. He has every move timed to the second. I count two arms on the man but it seems like he's got eight. From making sashimi and sushi rolls to keeping an eye on the tempura to calling out to the kitchen for rice to add to bento boxes, Ken is an expert at what he does and he produces visually appealing and delicious tasting results. When I first went to Komatsu I would sit at a table in the main restaurant and order bento boxes filled with the usual ingredients: teriyaki chicken or beef, tonkatsu, California rolls, etc. Now I sit at the sushi bar and greet Ken and simply request "Chef's Choice." I wouldn't do that in every restaurant I visit, but I do it at Komatsu, because Ken is a decent and talented and hard-working guy and I know that whatever he chooses to prepare is going to be just fine with me. Last week he made a beautiful roll with cucumber in the place of the customary seaweed outer wrapper (a non-menu, truly "chef's choice" item). It was one of those things that, as delicious as it was, called for a few moments of just looking at the carefully-composed beauty...I picked the wrong day to leave my camera at home. I only hope that he remembers what he made for me so I can order it again. The "Crazy Roll" (shrimp tempura, cucumber, avacado, topped with grilled eel) is also a winner.Today I had the sashimi lunch and the four kinds of fish offered were fresh and tasty. Komatsu has the requisite tables and tatami rooms, and it provides a nice atmosphere for a lunch on the go or an intimate dinner.

Best Sushi Place in Campbell.
I have been there a few times now and every time is amazing! The fish is so fresh, either sashimi or in rolls. The service is excellent, the service was prompt and everything was just great. I have an advid sushi lover, so trust me when I say this place was great. Even when I made reservations for 10 for the booths everything was amazing!

BAY AREA'S BEST KEPT SECRET!!.
FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME BEING AN AVID SUSHI LOVER, I CANNOT BEGAN TO EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS PLACE! THE FOOD IS SERIOUSLY TO DIE FOR! I HAVEN'T BEEN ANYWHERE ELSE THAT MAKES THE BEST SASHIMI, SPICY TUNA HAND ROLLS, UNAGI, AND EVEN CHICKEN TERIYAKI. I'VE MET CUSTOMERS FROM DOWN SOUTH LONG BEACH STOPPING HERE EVERY CHANCE THEY'RE UP IN THE BAY. IF YOU WANT AUTHENTIC JAPANESE CUISINE, YOU CAN'T PASS THIS PLACE UP OR YOU'RE DEFINITELY MISSING OUT! I'D HAVE TO SAY IT'S ONE OF THE BAY AREA'S BEST KEPT SECRETS!

Most fresh fish around!.
I usually eat sushi on a weekly basis and have been for several years now. I've been frequenting Komatsu for more years than I can remember even before the new ownership. It's always a joy to walk into a place where you're greeted upon entrance and the chef and servers even remember your name! For me, I cannot find fish this fresh any place else and I'm a pretty knowledgeable extensive sushi eater. The service is great, always friendly and hospitable. I would definitely recommend this place to individuals looking for a new sushi spot. People I've invited with me to dine there have always gone back with their own friends and families, so this joint is definitely a hit!

It Was Good--Past Tense!.
We started looking for a new sushi restaurant when our former favorite one became slower and slower in terms of receiving food so we were delighted when we fisst found Komatsu. However, at our past 2 visits the sushi shrunk to a quarter of most sushi, the fish was not fresh and almost obsolete, and the service was extremely slow.
