Knife-wielding chefs put on a show at this communal Japanese grill.. In Short
Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.

Benihana. I really love this place at least most of the time. I have experienced several rude employees though when trying to make reservations. And unfortunately the last time we were there the chef pretty much ignored us. It was a slow night and we were seateds at a table with two other couples who were together. The chef spent most of his time speaking to them in Spanish even though all of them could clearly speak English. He also gave them extra large portions when he was divying out the food and they pretty much wasted it. They were all for VERY drunk and we left still hungry mainly because we were shorted on our food. This is almost unheard of there because I usually need a togo box but not this time. It wasn't that they were all directly rude, it's just that we might as well have not been there for the wy we were treated.

I will go there again, but if they try to stick me with this chef, I'll ask to be moved or walk out.

THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER RECI"D IN MY LIFETIME. The lady that answers the phone is the rudest person I've ever spoken to in my life. I called to make reservations today and she said "WE NO HAVE NOTHING TILL 9! WE BUSY!" very VERY RUDE. And then she hung up on me. Um excuse me? What happened to customer service? What happened to that whole idea of pleasing the customer? I mean.. i understand if they are completely booked but was it necessary to yell and hang up on me? I will NEVER go back. I love benihana but i will NEVER go back. I guarantee they will lose a whole lot more customers with that kind of service.

Wonderful. I have been going there for over 15 years since I was a child. Our family would go for dinner on our birthdays and the customer service was grea. I keep the pictures every time I go and they get better and better. The food is wonderful and the way they train their cooks are awsome. I love the show and how they tease everyone. The shows are always different. I am always happy when I see a new person and what they can do.

LOVE IT!!. This place has always been a favorite of mine. The food is awsome,Sushi is always fresh. Ofcorse your cook can make it or brake it for your dinner. Sometimes they try to seat you before your res. and you have to beat them off with a stick, but otherwise the service is great. Kids have fun too if they are over 8. I learned this with my daughter, her first visit was age 4 didn't go well but know she is able to enjoy the food and show.
