What People Are Saying About Wine Cellar

The Scene – Configured like a wine cellar, this cozy restaurant in the basement of Old Town Shopping Center offers Italian and American staples in a pleasing date-night atmosphere. The restaurant makes use of nooks and crannies to create a comfortable, relaxed ambience conducive to hand-holding across the table. – – The Food – Cheese fondue is the signature dish; the traditional Swiss and Gruyere mix and the equally fine cheddar and ale blend are best with sliced cubes of fresh French bread. The wine-grilled artichoke appetizer served with green and gold aioli makes a…

When to Go:
Brunch is served from 10:30am-2pm each Sunday.
Parking:
Though there's a parking lot at Old Town, it can still be quite difficult to find a space. Busy Santa Cruz Avenue is even worse. Try nearby Main Street instead.

try the duck

by nradov at Citysearch

I highly recommend the duck confit and pan roasted breast. It was perfectly cooked and very tender. I have eaten a similar dish at two other area restaurants and this was definitely the best. My wife had the soy glazed wild Alaskan King Salmon and it was fine, but nothing special.

Great Dining Experience!!!

by SMartinez at Citysearch

I absolutely love the Wine Cellar in Los Gatos, CA! if you want a great lunch or dinner dining experience you must check out the Wine Cellar! Obviously they have GREAT wine selections, but their salads, apps and dinner are very good! They have the best fondue and desserts. I have dined here many of times and have never been let down. Lunch on the patio with my dad, birthday dinners in large groups, every time has been delicious and a great dining experience! They have a very nice, small bar that is fun for happy hour or drinks with friends. Its quaint, dim and kinds romantic! Check it out!

  • Pros: outdoor seating, cellar dining, unique menu
  • Cons: can be pricey but well worth it

Upscale American Restaurant with Underground Dining Area

by verlisia at Citysearch

Tried this restaurant once and I don't think I am a big fan of the food or ambiance. There was nothing really wrong but nothing really memorable either.

For dinner I have ordered -

Traditional Swiss & Gruyere Fondue

Duck Confit and Pan Seared Breast

Soy Glazed Wild Alaskan King Salmon

The taste and presentation did not meet my expectation for restaurants at this price range. Everything was just average. The appetizer fondue was probably the better dish out of my entire dinner. The duck confit came out dry rather than crispy. The duck breast was not nearly tender enough. Salmon was over done as well. I have had better salmon at restaurant charging half the price.

This restaurant is pretty huge. They have a really busy outdoor dinning area and an underground cellar dinning room. It took me a while to find the right maitre'd. Would have been nice if someone actually showed us where to check in.

Great choice for dining in Los Gatos!

by BrendaKashuba at Citysearch

The Wine Cellar is one of our favorite restaurants. This is where we held our employee Christmas dinner this year since La Fondu was such a disappointment the year before. All eight of us were raving about our meals and we were impressed with how well they managed to serve quickly on such a busy night. We all love the ambience at The Wine Cellar. My husband and I like to pop in there for a glass of wine and an appetizer when we're shopping in Los Gatos. It just has a great feeling there. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The employees are friendly and the service is fast. I highly recommend the short ribs! The only dish we did not like was the "apple crisp" for dessert. It simply was not sweet enough to be a dessert and the topping was not crisp at all. When I gave this feedback to the waiter, he said that there are so many people who come there specifically for the apple crisp, I realized that their recipe is one you either love or hate. But everything else was outstanding, including all the other desserts we ordered. Definitely two thumbs up.

So-so

by Lindsey213 at Citysearch

I read through many reviews to determine the best restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. The menu looked promising and the management showed that they really cared about their business.

We ordered the abalone, which was pretty tasty. My salmon was also pretty good and so was my husband's duck (order it medium). The sauces (on the abalone, salmon and duck) were the highlight of our night; they really complemented our dishes. At the end of the night, all the food added up to a bit over $100 (without wine). So, everything ended pretty well; nothing special.

I personally thought that our last celebration at Crimson restaurant in Los Gatos was by FAR superior to the Wine Cellar. It was cute, romantic, the food was AMAZING, and the bill including appetizer, 2 entrees, and dessert, and wine was only about $85. I loved it.

Our experience at Wine Cellar paled in comparison to Crimson. I won't be visiting Wine Cellar again because there was really nothing out-of-the-ordinary there.
