Dim sum. I went on Sunday and it was packed/crownded. People got in line waited for their number to be called. It didn't take very long ~15-20 mins. I dined in for dim sum 1 person but placed many dim sum to to go . My bill cost $105 and it's mandatory leaving tip 10% even I dined alone and ate very little. They went by total bil which I didn't think it's fair. Food was ok but I had it better in Houston and Cleveland, China town. The price...a bit pricy as well and I won't go back. If U look for service..more sauce, napkins, etc,... it's hard to find eye contact because it's so busy. If U ready to check out/pay bill, it's fast because they need to make new table for other customers. FYI.
User review by calabos. I visited on Sept 16 for lunch at 11:15 and was seated very promptly. After I had ordered some tea the Dim Sum carts came through before I knew it. The food was very fresh appetizing to the eye. My experience there was very positive, even my trip to the restroom. I can usually judge a restaurants cleanliness by their restrooms. I am happy to say their restrooms were very clean.
Extremely rude service.
We got there about 10:45 am Saturday morning. The restaurant was almost empty. The waiter came to our table and started taking order. I ordered 2 for myself and my wife. We later ordered a big bowl of congee as our soup. Then the dim sum cart came out so we grabbed a bunch of them and requested for red vinegar. All of requests were taken by the same person. Coming with red vinegar, the waiter said to us.
"Next time you better think about all you want at ONE time and let me know. I have other tables to take care of, not only your table. This time I don't mind, but don't do it again."
We talked to manager and he said he would talk to the waiter and have him apologize. The waiter refused to do so.
A huge selection of Cantonese dim sum is served in one of the busiest dining rooms in the South Bay..
The Scene
Mayflower is undoubtedly one of the main attractions in a sprawling Asian strip mall. It's not uncommon for there to be a wait despite the fact the place seats 290 people. A large crystal chandelier hangs in the lobby while gold dragons adorn the rear red wall. Aquariums swim with crabs, lobsters and fish, waiting to be ordered up by a hungry crowd.
The Food
The restaurant specializes in dim sum. Served everyday at lunch, at least a half dozen carts circulate through the spacious dining room. The aggressive serving staff offers an assortment of authentic dishes from shrimp dumplings to chicken feet with black bean sauce. The fluffy pork buns are stuffed with smoky, sweet chunks of meat. The sticky rice wrapped in tea leaves has dense texture and bursts with salted, shredded pork. To balance out your meal, order the tender, long-stalked Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The deep-fried sesame balls make for a chewy, sweet closer.
authentic chinese. If you are looking for American Chinese food, they do have typical mongolian beef, sweet & sour pork, etc. If you are looking authentic southern chinese banquet food, this is definitely a great place to go. The have pretty extensive menu and the food is tasty. Service is pretty good the couple times we were there.
