Good but has been better. My husband and I have been coming here off and on for 7 years and before it has never failed. They have great enchiladas and tacos and the best sopapillas ever. Plus the only place I know so far that serves those. If you haven't had sopapillas, you haven't lived for these huge, puffy, honey drizzled, sugary desserts. But I digress. We went last weekend after a year long hiatus and the enchiladas were bland. I was depressed. Bad night? Willing to give them the benefit of a doubt but I hope so.
Great authentic Mexican food. I've been going to La Milpa for years, and love this place. The con above is a double edged sword; busy is good for the restaurant, but sometimes the service suffers if the wait staff has too many to serve. The food, though, always is good, no matter how busy. It is always fresh and piping hot, and most importantly great tasting. I've been to most of the Mexican places in the area, and this is one of the best.
this place rocks!. i never thought i'd like menudo, but la milpa changed that. their machaca for breakfast will keep you running on all eights for the whole day!
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Locals flock during lunch hour to the family-friendly sit down restaurant that offers authentic Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices.
Authentic Mexican Food. Great Food...very authentic! I used to live in Milpitas and it was my favorite place to eat. Now I will gladly travel a bit to eat there. Great fajitas and great Margaritas!
The Best Beef fajitas!! Rice Need Help.. Growing up in San Jose the last 25 years, our Family has been eating at La Milpa for 15 years. They have the best Fajitas and Soups in town. The service has always been the best!! You never have to ask for a thing. Its a great place to bring family and friends, to enjoy and great meal with wonderful service. The Rice is okay needs help. But you can never get tired of the wondeful dishes they do serve. I'll be a Faithful La Milpa Fan for years to come!!
Finally, a restaurant that gets it. I was very pleasantly surprised by the staff's swiftness on a busy Friday night. BONUS: The menu has vegetarian alternatives!
The BEST in the South Bay!!!!. I think La Milpa has the best Mexican food North of the border. I especially love the fajitas and the cosido soup! Nothing better!!
La Milpa. I believe the whole beans and spanish rice are of the most authenic I have tasted in just about any Mexican restaurant. The have many choices and offer from the exotic mole to the uncompromising fajitas. I have not tasted everything on this menu, but the side dishes that come with most meals are excellent. The mole was not too overpowering and not too watery. The guacamole was fresh and lightly seasoned. They offer two types of salsa and jalepeno chilies can be requested. I would return again and again.
For those who don't like real Mex. Bland and uninspired cooking for those who don't know real Mexican food.
