poor customer service. I am usually a bargain hunter, but have to say I occasionally splurge at Banana Republic and J Crew. I went to this location to by a dress for a friend's daughter's wedding. I couldn't find a single sales girl to open a dressing room for me. The girls were behind the counter snapping their gum. Too bad, I love the clothes.

Since then, it has grown into a brand-name behemoth that one-ups the Gap in quality, status and price--but not necessarily creativity. The core of the collection is constant: versatile staples such as khakis, button-down shirts, denim, T-shirts and jackets in solid, organic colors. Lengths and fabrics change slightly according to the season. Some stores have expanded into bedding, fragrance, bath and beauty, and home-furnishing lines.
