Terrible food swimming in grease. I've read a number of positive reviews for this place and decided to check it out. I bought several items and when I brought them home, I noticed a strong grease smell when I opened the bag. Virtually every item glistened in a sheen of oil. I know Chinese food is cooked in oil, but this was ridiculous. Every bit went down the garbage disposal, and I hate to waste food. If you love greasy, oily Chinese food, this is your spot.
Santa Clara Valley deserves better than this..
The place we had to sit was horrible. There was a wedding reception taking up the main dining area so they stuck everybody else into what used to be the bar which is now basically a storage area crammed with 6 tables. There were boxes piled up on the back bar and against the windows up to the ceiling. In a pathetic attempt to conceal these boxes of toilet paper, take-out containers and fortune cookies, they used a few of those Cost-Plus trifold shoji screens; didn't work guys, it still feels like a storage room, not a dining room. Our table was shoved against the bar which is now used as a servers' station-- as the servers were rushing back and forth filling teapots and water glasses, i had a bit of hot tea and then ice water spilled on the back of my neck. We left no tip.
We had the "early bird special" dinner that was surprisingly better than expected (5-courses for 4 people @ $9.95 each) good Mu-shu Pork but the beef in the Broccoli Beef was tasteless.
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Authentic Chinese cuisine is served at the restaurant that features Dim Sum for lunch, catering and lunch specials.
Surprisingly good, misleading name. With a name like China Stix, you'd expect this restaurant to be a mall-food-court type Americanized Chinese restaurant. It's much more authentic than I expected (and I am Asian). The dim sum is very good, though some items are not as hot as they should be. Prices aren't cheap but not bad.
Consistent. Good noodles. As authentic as any Chinese Food Restaurant. This is coming from a real Chinese person. :) A mix of different regional Chinese foods including Northern Chinese (noodles, chinese doughnuts) and Canton fares.
Horrible. The food is really poor - on the far end of inauthentic. This is a great example of how name recognition doesn't equal "good" or quality. Plus, it tends be to incredibly busy at lunch time, and the prices aren't that much cheaper than some of the truly great chinese restaurants. If you want good Chinese food, virtually any place would be better (or at least no worse).
One of my favorites!. Great food! Can't get enough of that Mushu Pork! Always great service. Tables are perfect size to order anything you want, are well-spaced apart, and are very clean with white paper covers. Great for families, friends, and dates since it's not overcrowded. Occasionally, we've had to wait to be seated, but the wait was generally 5 minutes or less.
