With one of the most attractive interiors in San Jose, Paolo's has vine-like wrought iron posts and railings meandering through its oversized dining room. The room's earth tones are accented by autumnal plaids and brocade upholstery while vibrant oil paintings lend splashes of color. Moody lighting provides a cozy, romantic atmosphere.



The Food


Start with the gamberi alla livornese, a menu staple that plates up buttery fat prawns sparked with garlic, white wine and lemon. Though dishes like saltimbocca and capellini Regina (think cream and butter) remain on the menu for longtime customers, the concentration is on more sophisticated fare. Green olives and Medjool dates dot Muscovy duck breast. Penne pasta is crowned with grilled tuna, sweet slow-roasted tomato, Moroccan black olives and caramelized red onion.
