Memory Lane. I went to SJS (before the U) and graduated in '71. We lived in the SJ area after college, but moved to the east coast in '93. This is a new location, but our friends tell us it is the same pizza. We STILL DREAM of House of Pizza! Let's go to the HOP!…
House of Pizza. I grew up near the house of pizza. And we had their pizza very often. I love it. To most it brings back memories of the days gone by. I can honestly say I have never seen any other pizza like it. If you eat your pizza with utensils & only eat flat pepperoni this is definitely not the place for you. But if you like chunky spicy pepperoni and plenty of sauce and cheese with an old school atmosphere you got to come have one. It’s a place where old friends meet with cold beer and hot pizza to reminisce & catch up. Located downtown off Almaden between San Carlos and the 280. House of Pizza you either like it or you don’t but you won’t know until you try it.…
Grab a table the line can get slow. Worth the wait.. Most people seem to know this place from the old Downtown SJ days.. Always seemed to be OK people to me. People are people . Old San Jose original Pizza.. (May have HIspanics, number of Whites, Pacific Islanders, Persian, Egyptian, Japanese, African, Dominican, American mix crowd). (Kids are allowed to be kids). (People are not too worried about you.) (The crust was good).…
Possibly the worst pizza I've eaten in the bay area, but there are many other reasons to avoid this place..
If this is the best pizza in San Jose, there is something seriously wrong with this place. The crust was that of a frozen pizza and I cannot stress this enough. Not to be outdone, it was as if the
cheese, sauce and pepperoni were all competing with the crust on which individual contribution were most detrimental to the pizza as a whole, ending in a melee of mediocrity that left me feeling sad.
The pizza was bad, the atmosphere was worse. This was largely an uneducated and crass crowd with an obvious criminal element as well. There was a bar filled with career alcoholics that seemed transplanted from the seediest of San Jose dive bars. Accentuating this scene were a number of bikers boisterously, if not obnoxiously, recounting some of their more colorful life experiences, including "We Kicked that Guy in the Face," and "I Totally Banged that Chick." Seeing the many children running around made me feel as though I must have been the subject of a practical joke. Why would anyone bring their children here?!
The whole experience was bad.…
Best place for pizza and good drinks. Pizza's great and so are the drinks, the good thing about this place is that as long as I can remember it hasn't changed , and the same Good taste stay's there with every order..
