Excellent company, exemplary work, fine business practices.
Firstly, I must say that for ALL THREE PROJECTS we did with Clear Oak, ALL our business dealings with them have been aboveboard and honest.
We have used Clear Oak for three different projects, two of them major. Almost twelve years ago, we had them design and totally remodel our kitchen with excellent results. To this day, we love our kitchen and constantly get compliments from others on its beautiful cabinetry. Their crews were prompt, reliable, responsive to requests and cleaned everything up each day before they left. The subcontractors they used were also excellent.
Three years ago we did a major remodel of our master bedroom, and also created a new master bathroom. Our designer was great, and many of the same people who worked on the kitchen were also on this job. Again, promptness, reliability, responsiveness and cleanliness were evident.
Last year we redid our hall bathroom using Clear Oak. Even though this was a much smaller job, they took it and did their usual amazing work.
My husband and I have absolutely NO COMPLAINTS about this great company, have referred them to others who have shared our experiences, and would use them again for any new work we need done.…
Beware of this UNETHICAL Company!!.
Unfortunately, Clear Oak Designs is more in the business of extortion, than home remodel. Construction of our bathroom addition was completed in August of 2005. We made prompt payments per our
contract throughout the proccess, and for the Final invoice in August of 2005. In June of 2006 Clear Oak sent an additional invoice for approximately $11,000 - 10 months after the work was completed! The invoice contained several change orders that were dated in February, 2006. We had never seen the change orders and they contained their signature but not ours. They did not return any of our calls or respond to our written dispute of the invoice. Clear Oak then proceeded to place a mechanics lien on our property in September of 2007. We have learned that this is a common scare tactict of many unethical contractors to try and extort additional money from honest customers. The lien was not recorded within the required timeframe of 90 days of completion of work and was thus completely invalid. In January of 2008 we sent a certified letter demanding the lien be removed. We received no response from Clear Oak. We have since hired an attorney and are having the lien legally removed, and will have a judgement against Celar Oak for the attorney costs.
Our recommendation - stay away from this unethical company!!…
