Great food!!!
by Nichole1710
I love this place. It is always good. They give you more food then Benihannas so the people that say this is not as good there right it's better! We always go on our birthdays and sometimes just to go. I am going tonight. I give this place a 10
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Could remodel but that doesn't do anything about the great food.
Great Japanese Steakhouse
by tihuyfe
I have been going to House of Genji for over 10 years now and absolutly love the food there. If you're looking for a great Fillet Mignon with a twist - Genji is your place. The meal starts out with a salad then a great bowl of missho soup followed by rice, vegtables and shrimp with the the main course coming last. With the main course you get two dipping sauces - ginger sauce and mustard sauce. They're mustard sauce is absolutly delicous and is one of the things that differenctiates Genji from the chains. I'm not sure where they get their meat from but the quality is excellent, rivaling some of the larger top steakhouse chains. I have heard others complain about some of the seafood dishes but as this is a steakhouse and you really have to order their specialty.
One thing that Genji could use is a major makeover - the place has not changed in over a decade and the carpet and walls are worn beyond what they should be. One other thing that I have a issue with is that they started adversiting on TV about their free birthday dinner which brought in a lot of less desirable people. What I mean by this is that large groups of people will get together for a birthday dinner and get drunk and rowdy making the place seem a little less sofisticated.
Hands down this is the best Tepan Yaki place in the area, Bennihanna is just a chain and doesnt even come close.
- Pros: Food and Service is excellent
- Cons: needs an interior makeover
Never again .....

I ended up at House of Genji because Benihana was already booked for the evening and we had the itch for some teppanyaki. I can't even tell you how disappointed I was!
Not only was the decor awful (nothing authentic looking about it), but with what they charge for the food, you would think they could at least paint the baseboards.
The food was below average and everything tasted like soy sauce. The only thing you can use to compare this place with Benihana are the menu prices. Benihana will win everywhere else hands down.
- Pros: I can't think of one.
- Cons: , Worn Down Interior
