No Manager No Help – I moved in, quickly I needed a place and I had my 3 children periodically and Boyfriend also stayed, but the other comments are correct, The Manager a Black Male acted as if he did not have to do anything and he didn't he hung out with thugs, and Mike & Kenny were always creeping around smoking dope, Mike is disgusting he hooked up with a mental patient and she is out of it, there are criminals, prostitutes, drugs, and neglect by Mother Olson's the authories will not do anything either as there were reports but nothing came from them, it is like living in hell, I knew one guy they threatened and basically slandered him, trying ot get him to move out.
possible damages – I have read the comments and it sounds as if Mother Olson's could be libel for damages, if I am correct Mother Olson's (landlords) have a responsibility for adequate shelter and protection, for the Manager to be negligent in his duties and not reporting threats and harassments is similar to siding with the offender where there is reports given to Mother Olson's of Drug use and illegal activity but not intervening is also Negligence. there are many issues that are reported in these comments and they all should have been addressed by Mother Olson's officials and if not I believe they are Libel. ( I could be mistaken)
I came to Mother Olson's Boarding House at 122 N.8th Street in 1967. I was all of 19 years old. I had just got a job at Safeway, too. Keith Alan Watt, who was in the office, gave me a room, and a chance to make it in San Jose, which I did not know much about at the time. I was down on my luck with money many times as a young guy out on my own. Something worked for me because of the start that I got in San Jose from Mother Olson's. I will always be grateful for what they did for me all of those years ago.
Mother Olsen's INN – Mother Olsen's Inn doesn't follow with a background check. People under house arrest who are prostituting and sleep with the manager on site. Tennants breaking the rules but beware if you address your complaint... Mgmt at Mother Olsen's Inn doesn't want to hear the complaint... after so many complaints they will evict you! Their cameras don't work, onsite manager and tennants who are aware that camera are just to scare but don't work.
We were terrorize by a few tennants with XIV on our door and wall but mgmt did nothing. we complained about the tennants smoking and who they were and mgmt did nothing. we complaint about the gas stop be left on and I near got burned twice but mgmt did nothing. we complaint about the loud noise complaints from certain tennants and mgmt is evicting us. They do not care about the safety and well being of their tennants and just about the money. Also there is a fugitive hiding in the building but mgmt doesnt care. Yikes. Onsite manager has a lot of activity especially they hand swap with individuals who stop by his room and leave quickly... You see too many different women coming in and out of room at all nights of the hours. Also cars are being vandalized with scratches. Renter Beware
check it out – So when you see the name you think its a hotel or bed and breakfast, infact it is a property management company that rents out full furished rooms paid utilites and provides housekeeping service. Mother olsons inn offers short term rental and long term rentals. Its so awesome that Mother olsons inn exist they accept weeky rent payments and will work with people. I know lots of people who were struggling to find a place to live however their situation changed when they contacted Mother olsons inn. They do ask that a person show a proof of income. The staff there is great talk about nice and friendly the staff there is so helpful and courteous. So if you ever find your self in a ruff spot and looking for a place to live my advice to you is call Mother Olsons inn see if they can help.
Mother Olson's Boarding House! – some 20-30 years ago, I knew this place as Mother Olson's boarding house @ 122N8th St and I actually occupied 143 N.8th St across the street. The rate was about $150/wk for a shared room - translate that to 2 beds in each room of a 2 bedroom apartment meaning 4 strangers living together. Woody and ABE lived in one bedroom and I occupied another bedroom in a single bed with another roommate, as I recall.
Ms. Gloria Olson drove me to the hardware store once in her Karman Ghia to get electrical parts to update one of the houses. I imagine that Ms. Gloria is dead now (as I nearly am), and lord only knows what her successors may have done with the estate and variois properties, seeing as the addresses seem to have changed...
My apt was 1 block from the #85 bus at a time when it ran every 30 min to city college, except that during that time the CHP caused many busses to be taken out of service making the #85 run every 1.5 hours... effectively killing my SJ City College career...

no help – after exitting Mother Olson's I can try to be specific but I can't be completely honest because these reviews are sensored. Though honestly I believe in reverse discrimination, the manager at my building was Black, the garbage was never taken out until it was over flowing, there is so much skunk smoke being smoked you might believe theres a skunk in the building also done by a black, there a male nurse that lives there Black and he plays his music all night, neighbors complained but you know what you get with a drunk blackman that hates white people telling him to turn down the music. the office people tell you the builds are cleaned daily and you're supposed to be so stupid you believe them despite the brown stuff that has been on the toilet seat all week. between office people whos only concern is charging high rents, and managers which don't do anything the Mother Olson's facility seems quite corrupted. money's are not being put back into the buildings, laundry machines are broken, leaking, or won't dry. Black's in the building get what they want, and the rest are trying to find other living arraigments, try somewhere alse is my opinion.
Most affordable housing for a weekly or monthly stay, convenient downtown locations. – Mother Olson's Inn (Office located in Le Petit Trianon) is a very affordable short term to long term housing solution, I personally stayed there many times, as temporary as a week and as long as three months, it's great for students, out of town visitors and retired persons on reduced income. All in all a decent experience!
