Great tasting food!. My fiance and I went out to Bella Mia and the food was AWESOME! Not only that, but we paid only a little more than we would pay at Denny's for a meal. And it was so much! He got the lemon and herb chicken with polenta and braised spinach. I DIED and went to HEAVEN when I ate the spinach! Also, the polenta was delicious. I tried the veggie lasagna for a second time ( I got the half serving), and it was even better than the first time he and I went. Awesome. There were candles lit and it was cozy. The only thing I would say is that the staff seemed rushed and a bit impersonal, but I understand...

Great Experience. I recently took a date to the restaurant and overall we had a wonderful experience. The wait staff was extremely attentive and we felt well taken care of. Their fried calamari appetizer was some of the best fried calamari that I have tasted. The bartender did a great job on the drinks also. The food was great an neither of us had any complaints. In fact we had an appetizer, salads, our entree, drinks and dessert and bill was only $80 which to me is a value. I highly recommend Bella Mia!!

A casual yet sophisticated eatery, where even at the bar, dinner is served with a delicate orchid.. The Scene
Plush leather couches rise luxuriously to meet the brick wall hung with black-and-white photos of old San Jose. Bella Mia is casual and sophisticated, beautiful and comfortable. The crowd is constantly changing, with business people, college students, or anyone else who wants to enjoy a drink somewhere with more class than the average pub. The bar can get a little loud between noise from the kitchen, music and TV, but it only lends to the feeling that it really is a bar.

The Food
Pick from a full menu of steak, lobster and fresh pasta. When you order at the bar, they'll still serve your food with a delicate purple orchid. Wine lovers will delight in the more than 25 wines available by the glass.

Worst Experience EVER. Bella Mia has the WORST service. After waiting over 2 and half hours, never received food. Assistant manager and manager both VERY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL. Could care less about customer service. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!!

Horrible Mother's Day. Mother's Day 2003. Made reservations at Bella Mia for a nice Mother's Day brunch. The restaurant was about 2/3 full and we were seated promptly. The waiter took our drink order and then our food order. Two hours later, we still had not received our food or any clear indication on when our food would arrive. The assistant manager was unfriendly and unhelpful. The general manager was rude and walked away from us. One table next to us took 1 1/2 hours to get their food and it was cold and another large party was clearly disgusted with the service and their treatment. We will never eat at this restaurant again.

Disappointing service. While the food was admittedly very good, our service experience was terrible. One person in our party's meal came out so late, there was no time to eat it (we had to leave for the Cirque show), and everyone else had already finished eating. The restaurant offered the late meal complimentary, but the person wouldn't have had time to eat it anyway. I wrote to the restaurant after the experience hoping they would make amends ... never received a reply.

GREAT place!. The food is incredible, the ambience was very romantic, and I felt right at home in their cozy upstairs dining room. Very good place to eat.

Yum. Been here on more than one occasion. I've never strayed from my usual dish, Linguini Tuttumare which is always great. Maybe that's why I don't have any horror stories about the food. But the appetizers and desserts I've tried, I don't remember too much. Maybe that's also a sign of...something, I don't know. But I'll continue to go back specifically for entree. Some may feel it's overpriced but SJ is lacking in good italian, what can you do?

Limp Ceasar w/ a glass of hot Chardonnay. I ordered ceasar salad. I told the waitress the lettuce appeared old. She just looked at me. I pointed out it was brown & limp. She said, "it's tomato sauce," & walked away. There isn't tomato sauce on Ceasar salad. Still I tried to wipe it off. It was obvious it was just old lettuce. The I was served hot wine! I politely waved her over to ask that this be replaced. She rolled her eyes & walked away. So we walked out. The waitress followed us yelling "Is there a problem?" I went back inside asked for the Manager. The Manager came out to speak with me as the waitress stood by talking over him. He asked to let us speak in private. She refused. He told her to go home. Finally the Bartender escorted her out. The Manager listened,didn't try to fix anything. He didn't even apologize.
