The Scene
Located inside a somewhat-restored Victorian house between a tattoo shop and Jack in the Box, this has become a San Jose late-night landmark.
The Food
The burritos are big and carry heaping quantities of well-prepared meat filling (unless, of course, you go veggie). The carne asada, pollo and carnitas are all worthwhile. Try the lengua (beef tongue) if you dare. The simple 89-cent quesadilla is a small joy. The three-enchilada plate is also worth ordering. La Victoria is well known for its great hot sauce. The recipe is a closely guarded secret and it's well worth guarding. It's one of the best sauces in Silicon Valley.

Every night I start feel hungry, I look at the clock and if it is before 3AM, I head over to La Vic... Those Chile Verde Super Burritos with HOT sauce....Someone hold me down...I am going to eat myself to death... If you get stuff to go, just ask for tons of hot sauce...They are more than willing to give you more...My first time in there I was a bit taken back- but noticed EVERYONE had a bottle of the signature HOT sauce... Such a great alternative to Jack in the Box, Pizza My Heat, and that horrible place Iguanas around the corner....This place actually has a bit more customer service and the food is to die for! If you are going to park, try parking on the other side of the street, or over at McDonald's....

I moved out of the area about a year ago, and whenever anyboday says San Jose, I instantly crave a breakfast burrito covered in orange sauce. I wish I could get orange sauce shipped to me. For a first timer its intimidating- but you must try it. And its definitely got a kick to it! I never ate there... but I went nearly every weekend and the second I get back to California I will be there again!
