Try the orange sauce on everything!. La Vic is famous for their orange sauce! You can't beat the $1.95 breakfast burritos, but my personal favorites are the carne asada burrito and the vegetarian flour quesadilla. Be sure to try the fresh watermelon liquada too! It's refreshing and not too sweet.
Convenient location, but lacking in taste, quality..
i have been to la vaictoria a few occasions and each time walked away vowing that i'd never be back. i've heard from a number of people how wonderful it is, and as a taqueria lover I couldn't wait to try it. Well, the meat (carne asada, carnitas) are simply not up to par with a number of other taquerias in the same area. The hot sauces that so many rave about are very bland and overly smoky. I think that this may be a favorite for those people who are venturing beyond Taco Bell or Baja Fresh, but it is definitely not a good authentic Taqueria.
note:the only thing that makes me happy about this place is that former 49ers QB Jeff Garcia was arrested in front of it for Drunk in Public. Chump.
Secret of Orange Sauce = Butter.
The Orange sauce is made with BUTTER
Just mix garlic and hot sauce and butter
and voila - you have the ORANGE SAUCE
Great for cheap eats....
Pros - Exceptional value; food will fill you up for a few bucks. Great for students on a budget and those who don't mind walking down the street for a casual bite to eat. There are better Mexican restaurants out there but not many that offer this much food for the price.
Cons - Parking is scarce. This restaurant doesn't have a parking lot. You're almost tempted to park next door at the Jack-In-The-Box but the towing signs pretty much scare people off. Very crowded and hard to find seats. Also seating is not made for large parties (small tables with a few chairs). I don't recommend this as a place to bring coworkers during lunch - it's very casual; more of a student's hang out. Food is average in taste. Nothing spectacular about the cuisine but it is inexpensive.
Supersized. Good sauce. Big Portions. Open Late. Lacks a bit of authenticity. One of those places people go when they're out drinking late.
This place makes "no-frills" an art form. Just pay up, sit down and eat your burrito..
The Scene
Located inside a somewhat-restored Victorian house between a tattoo shop and Jack in the Box, this has become a San Jose late-night landmark.
The Food
The burritos are big and carry heaping quantities of well-prepared meat filling (unless, of course, you go veggie). The carne asada, pollo and carnitas are all worthwhile. Try the lengua (beef tongue) if you dare. The simple 89-cent quesadilla is a small joy. The three-enchilada plate is also worth ordering. La Victoria is well known for its great hot sauce. The recipe is a closely guarded secret and it's well worth guarding. It's one of the best sauces in Silicon Valley.
Unforgettable.
This is so good it is addictive.I crave it weekly
The super burritto and super nachos are fantastic!
I also buy a bottle of the red sauce its so good.
best hot sauce. La Victoria is on of my favorite places to get tacos and burritos. The super tacos are awesome and the hot sauce is like nothing you'll find anywhere else. Be careful it may be habit forming.
The best mexican tacos.
This is an excelent taqueria, great service and food.
The salsa is unique.
I'm from Mexico and I can tell this restaurant is my favorite in North California, simple and tasty.
