In Short
The casual, fun atmosphere is summed up with a sign that admonishes, "Beware of the man who does not drink." Sure, it's noisy and on weekends you may get soaked with spillage, but you may also meet your next date over an order of buffalo wings. Numerous beers on tap, cheap happy-hour drinks, nightly specials and pub grub draws college students and 20-somethings with booze, sports and the opposite sex on their minds.

Desperate for a place to watch the baseball playoff game this past Saturday night, my wife and I ended up at Mission Ale House, our fourth or fifth choice. We hadn't been in a couple years, as it had progressively turned from decent place to get a drink into gross downtown-San-Jose-wannabe-club. And it worse it was. They used to have a great beer selection, particularly for downtown SJ, but they've trimmed it to seven or eight of the bland usual suspects. Service has always sucked, so that was no surprise. The game was on, but, without warning and with the game in extra innings, bouncers came over and told us to move so they could clear space for a dance floor. When we tried to argue with the 'manager' she accused us of being drunk (hardly) and belligerent (no), and of yelling at her - as if we had a choice, given how loud the nasty dance music was. The bouncers were nice about it, trying to get us a table near another TV, but the manager kicked us out anyway, not even letting us finish the final two beers that were part of the $120+ tab. I'm sure she'll get a good chunk of that tip, though. You're welcome. In short, if you want to go dancing, San Jose has better options. If you want to watch sports, this ain't the place, either. Even if you just want a drink, seriously, go somewhere else. San Francisco, maybe. A real city.

Me and a friend went here for the first and only time based on another friends recommendation of the good and bad that she has seen. We thought that we would try it out. It was a club that appealed to us, had a drink and went on the dance floor. The way the club is set up there is no reason you need to walk through the dance floor, but people do it anyway, as long as your not rude and pushing people out of your way and trying to give them dance space most are cool with it. My friend had a girl who intentionally shoved her out of the way to get through, so my friend shoved back. If it was a misinterpitation then they should have said so apologized & been on their way. Come on how old are we really? But they were the fighting type and we aren't. eventually they walk away and we notice them trying to stare daggers into us. The next thing that we know the chick that easily has 80lbs on my friend is pummeling her into other people almost to the ground. I tried to tell her friend that was uncalled for and see if she can handle her friend but she wanted to start something to. We let it go and continued to dance. We thought the bouncer saw what happened. The next thing we know her friend turns around and tries to pour her drink on us. The bouncer did see this came to us and said he wasn't sure what was going on but they were gone. We see this same chick walk by elbow my friend after they were supposed to be gone. We just let it go. Then she went directly to another bouncer and was kissing up on him, thought she was going to try to cause trouble that way. The next thing we know we are being led off the dance floor and out a door, not knowing why. The bouncer did come out and explained why he kicked us out, although he had no idea about the incident before. Although I did talked with Brandon a supervisor, and apologized and gave us another good place to go to, it wasn't handled right by kicking out the ones not trying to fight. Didn't keep you waiting for drinks & good music

I have been going there with a group of friends after work for about 3 weeks and there is the nicest, cutest, and funniest bartender there named Kimi. So sweet in fact that I thought I would let you all know! From woman to woman ladies can be kind of rude but she was so cool. She introduced us to a bunch of the regulars, who we have since become pals with and we have even gone out with them. She makes the best drinks and you have to try her kimikazi! Really good! She is super funny too, a real fun place to be when you get to sit in front of her well... that is if there is a free bar stool... her end is always busy with laughter and napkins (you have to go and see)! We have been having so much fun there with Kimi and the Mission patrons! We will be so sad to return home to Chicago in a few weeks, but we will be back to visit her and the bar! It's a great after work kind of place to be! Go visit her after work!!!!
