The Scene
Wedged into a strip mall along with a camping supply center, the long, narrow space manages to fit in a stage, a few tables, a long bar, and a pool table. The simplistic but highly effective sound system blares the best efforts of blues acts ranging from the great to the mediocre. There's a good cultural and age mix among the blues-hounds who haunt this venue. Dress is casual; atmosphere is relaxed; life is good.
The Draw
Blues isn't supposed to come in a pretty package. JJ's is an old-fashioned dive that could properly be referred to as a "joint." Proper joints that offer headliner-type musical acts are hard to come by in SV. For that reason alone, JJ's is worth recommending.

oh my GOD... i Love this place... its got that homey old style bluesy bar feel!! LOVE IT!! the staff is friendly and the BLUES are hopping!! I was dancing the entire time I was there....... This is WAY UP there on my Favs list and Im telling all my friends to go there too! Drinks are awesome! and I love love the back room with the couches.. you can still see the band on a large screen! Kinda like being at home! I cant wait to go back tomorrow and the next day!

Ever since Johnny Perkins has taken over ownership, JJ's Blues Lounge has been on a downward spiral. The place is dead, even when big names are in town. From what I hear, the word is out among the touring blues band that JJ's should be overlooked because the crowds are gone. I wish JJ's would go under so someone else would start a respectable blues club in the southbay. It's to bad because June put her life into this place and to see it take the turn it has is really upsetting. Johnny if you read, this please sell JJ's before you run it all the way into the ground. If Johnny treated the musicians and patrons with more respect maybe his club would gain more respect.
Pros: blues are played there
Cons: It's owned by a two-faced liar
