Hostess attempted to ignore us to death..
February 7th, 2011, in a very uncrowded restaurant.
An Asian couple requests a table for two. Hostess seats the people ahead of them. Awaiting their turn, the Asian couple watches as the hostess makes no attempt to ask seating preference or even greet them
A pair of white ladies later enter the restaurant and are promptly greeted and seated by the hostess, who resumes talking with coworkers and ignoring the Asian couple.
Something is definitely wrong here.
One half of the Asian couple calls out this poor treatment to the manager Ray or Roy. Manager and hostess hem and haw trying to justify this faux pas. But in the end, they are all lame reasons that do not excuse such service.
Whether this is part of this location's training (I know other Red Lobster locations are better than this) or a fluke in the service, such a terrible impression does not fade. Not even the offer of discounted service can erase that. If your hostess is trying to ignore certain customers to death, I can't imagine what the wait staff has up their sleeves.
Hopefully this little diatribe will get the manager to shape up his service staff and pay it forward to the next customers who visit whether they are Asian, black, white, or any race.
-The quieter half of the Asian couple on that February Monday.
Casual crustacean-inspired chain serves up diet-defying seafood dishes in a family-friendly environment..
In Short
Live lobsters wriggle in a tank inside this seafood emporium, where nautical-patterned booths and colorful, fish-shaped tables in the bar area add subdued touches of whimsy to the room's classy dark wood accents. The menu can be downright decadent, with starters of artichoke lobster dip, seafood fondue, and crab-stuffed mushrooms. Entrees feature lighter, grilled fare like mahi-mahi and North Atlantic sea scallops, along with signature lobster dishes, snow crab legs, and jumbo fried shrimp platters.
Poor service. Good food.. My wife, daughter and her friend, and I decided to go out to the Red Lobster located on Almaden Expressway in San Jose, CA. The wait was about 20 minutes before we got seated. We had ordered our drinks and the waitress was nice. She brought out some bread but there were no plates. I waited for a while but our waitress was too clueless to notice so I grabbed some plates off a vacant nearby table. We received our appetizers but there was no silverware on the table. Again, I waited for the waitress and there was no sign of her so I grabbed the utensils off of the same table I got the plates. She did ask if I needed another beer as soon as I put the empty glass down. I gave her points for that one but they were soon lost as I asked for another beer when dinner was served and it never ended up on our table.
