Inappropriate business practices. My boyfriend and I went to Western Appliance in early November to shop for a new dishwasher, stainless steel sink, disposal, microwave, gas range, and refrigerator. As we walked in the door, we told the pouncing salesperson, "We just want a quote. We do not want to buy today." We repeated this several times. At the end of our 90 minute search, the salesperson said he would provide a package deal discount with itemized prices. He asked me to fill out an application for a Western Appliance credit card. I was so exhausted, I agreed. He spent 45 minutes creating a quote and running my credit report. Finally, he placed the prices in front of me and said, "When would you like this delivered?" I replied, "We told you many times we just wanted a quote!!!" So he demanded that I pay him $10.00 to get the quote he had already processed. I gave him cash. His sales manager screamed at him from the desk, "ARE YOU PAYING FOR HER DEPOSIT?" and the salesperson screamed back, "No, she gave me cash!" Two weeks later, I got the Western Appliance credit card in the mail, that I had not wanted. I was so angry, I tore it up. They tried to push a sale on me that was unwanted. My advice -- go to the store to research the models but buy at University Electric
STAY AWAY from Western Appliances on Blossom Hill in San Jose. I strongly discourge anyone from purchasing anything from this store! The staff are very incompetent and have no clue on what they are selling. Last year I purchased a telescopic kitchen hood for my kitchen. These people never disclosed that this hood came with a separate motor which weighs more than 50 pounds that needs to be installed on the roof top. They told me that the motor was contained within the unit. After I installed the hood, the hood had no suction. The motor came on a later date in a separate packaging. They had no idea that this unit had a separate motor! When I told them that there was no way for me to install this motor on the roof top of my two story existing home, they just shrugged it off. They would not take the motor back nor they would reimburse me for the separate under-cabinet motor that I had to purchase in order for the hood to function. They are irresponsible, unprofessional and lack knowledge of the appliances that they sell. Stay away from that store!
