view & uploadBest Sushi I had. I been eating sushi since 1987. I tried this place many times whenever I am in the area. They never disappointed me. Always fresh fish and friendly service. Highly recomend. This place is really hole in the wall.
Tomo Sushi, a place you should NEVER visit. Used to be a regular at this place. Never again. They served bad fish that I got sick from and the waitress insulted both myself and my family. When this was brought to the attention of the owner Jun, who knew we were regulars, he could have CARED Less. So if you want a place that doesn't care AT ALL about the customer, this is it. I swore I would never go back and advise EVERYONE to go to Sushi Zono's on Hamilton and San Tomas Expressway. They have great food, and GREAT Service.
Local Neighborhood Sushi.
A destination restaurant it is not, but for a local neighborhood sushi joint, its terrific. I recommend sitting at the bar, unless youre a teriyaki/tempura kind of person, then do us all a favor and get a table. Tomo Sushi. Emphasis on sushi.
My favorite treat is to watch Jun (the chef) prepare a whole fish and gives us the very first servings off it. You want fresh fish? It doesnt get any better than that. Also great to watch is when he makes specialty house sauces from fresh ingredients.
Hamachi, Hirami, Maguro, Sake, Unagi, all are wonderful. The Japango Roll is spectacular and one of my favorites; they use rice paper instead of seaweed and fill it with scallop, salmon, avocado, mango and crab dressing. The result is a fresh, clean, crisp satisfying roll.
For the local neighborhood its a great place to meet, eat, and socialize
Not recommended. Our family ate there and ordered a variety of dishes: sushi, salmon teriyaki, tempura, deep fried tofu. The sushi was very mediocre. The toro (fatty tuna) was extremely expensive ($12 for two very small, thin pieces) and was very low quality and stringy in texture. The hamachi was decent. The uni (sea urchin) was not good at all either. The salmon teriyaki was okay. Tempura was nothing special. Deep fried tofu was less than average. I would not recommend this restaurant. Service was terrible too. Very slow and things came out of order. Sushi came towards end of the meal. Appetizers took very long time to come. They charged us for stuff we didn't order. Very slow service.
Not too impressed.
The restaurant was quite small. There weren't a lot of people on a Friday night as expected so we got a table right away. I orded ungai and my bf ordered spicy tuna which was not the best sushi ever. The sushi were smaller than I have ever had, and not as fresh. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki dinner-which included salad and miso soup, and rice.
Overall: average place
