Tips for Lous Village

It is time to appreciate Lou's before they leave!. Lou's Village is saying good to San Jose and thBay on December 31, 2005. Hurry to try the last of real restaurant tradition. Lou's Village buys the best fresh product available and has a long standing reputation which has endured for 59 years. Trends come and go but Lou's maintains quality day in and day out. If one were to look for another example of a similar operation he or she would be hard pressed to come up with an equal. If there is a problem the problem will be solved by whomever is on duty as manager immediately. I recommend that Lou's be your place as it has been mine for the last five years for great food and service plus ample parking. Another point is that Lou's is not a la carte. You get a complete dinner or lunch at a very reasonable price.

Lou's Village is one of those things.. The Food
The lunch menu runs heavy (both in calories and price) with options like Steamed Clams (Cherrystones in wine, garlic, olive oil, and clam broth; $14.95) and Lobster Thermidor (allow 20 minutes; $32.95). Although lighter fare is offered in one of several fillets ($13.95). For dinner, go all out: Captain's Platter (golden-fried delicacies - prawns, scallops, fresh fish, and oysters; $18.95); Live Maine Lobster (1 1/4 lbs.; $23.95); or New York Steak and Lobster Tail ($39.95).

The Scene
This place is old-school. Not as dark as you might expect, the white walls, white table linen and recessed lighting give it an open feel. But not to worry, it still has plenty of deep, dark booths. With a bit of nautical decorating and a fish tank you understand that the main thrust here is seafood, but of course they also offer steak, poultry and pasta. Of course.

A consistent winner!. Lou's is always good, always friendly, nearly always available - call first!. The appetizer's are great; calamari, shrimp, smoked salmon. Their Caesar is usually good - sometimes too heavily dress, scallop salad is fabulous; chowders are tasty. I love the Swordfish (ordered Medium Rare), Cioppino, Shrimp, steaks and the specials are good if a little too rich/confused in flavors. Their corkage policy is reasonable and their own wine list adequate. The desserts are good too.

Since they have redecorated it is updated, go see the bar! We enjoy looking at the photos of long-ago entertainers, our kids loved to be seated by the fishtanks when younger. It is comfortable, friendly and reliable. We have had "dates", dinner parties, family banquets, business dinners, company parties and more at Lou's and it is always a pleasure.

The service is excellent and professional. Family owned, family friendly, a reliable choice.
