San Jose >Garden City Casino
It's like a little piece of Vegas transplanted to the Silicon Valley at this casino cafe..
A guitarist somberly noodles his way through Elton John covers for diners' pleasure. The walls are festooned with garish oil paintings of jazz musicians. The whole place somehow seems to reek of Las Vegas. It's the kind of spot where a Manhattan or other highball is truly in order. What do you expect from a caf? housed inside a casino? When folks hit it big, they celebrate with dinner in the same building where luck found them.
Nothing is cutting-edge, but the pink prime rib has pleased locals for decades. Real high rollers opt for the pricey lobster tail with drawn butter. Chicken dishes, pastas, pork and lamb round out the dinner options. If you're coming earlier in the day, all the basic breakfast goodies are served as well as soups, sandwiches, burgers and salads.
hence a casino. hearing so many rants and raves about this place, we headed out to the restaurant inside of a casino. maybe it was the day we choose (wednesday) but the service was slow, prime rib over cooked, the horseradish curdled. i just didn't think the meal was worth $70 for two people. (two alchoholic drinks included) may be a nice to grab food while hitting the black jack tables but not my cup of tea.
