Retirement Living done right!. What a way to retire and live the "Cruise-Ship Lifestyle" on land, that the marketing representative explained. From the moment you enter the lobby you are greeted with a smile. I felt at home instantly. Genita Dickson was immediately concerned about my father's situation from the moment we sat and talked extensively about his needs. She really listened. Then she did the unthinkable... She gave me a 2 hour tour full of information, first impressions, and a handful of introductions to the people who live there. Every person we encountered talked about the joy they felt living here. Not one complaint! The apartments range in various sizes, and styles. Although some may be smaller than expected, I truly think the amenities make up for it. The staff are friendly, building clean, and grounds impeccable. Unfortunately, there is a waiting list to get in. I guess you know it's a good thing when everyone's lined up to experience the benefits. I have placed my father on the wait list, and can hardly wait. If you're expecting a need for a loved-one, you should definately pay them a visit. Ask for Genita.

A MUST SEE!. There is a sign on the lawn that reads... "Voted, Best of the best 2007". I couldn't agree more. I have a daughter who works in an Assisted Living community out-of-the-area and the services and duties go way beyond the day-to-day. I have toured several local communities in search of a place for my mother in the near future. I keep finding myself back at the Carlton. We have several friends who reside at the Carlton Plaza of San Jose, and are very happy. In fact, many often tell me they are most impressed with the food, and the friendliness of the staff. On many visits to the Carlton Plaza I am greeted and acknowledged with a smile. Such caring and compassionate staff is hard to find.

One of the many things that impressed us most, they actually offer the flexibility to create your own services as you need them, and allow for different needs to be met without a pre-set level of care. I find comfort in knowing that my mother will be able to age gracefully in one place, and no matter what comes our way she will not have to move again. Everyone appears to enjoy living there, and are always in such good spirits. I think this is one of those things you have to see for yourself. If in the market for a retirement community for a loved one, you owe it to them, and yourself to see this place! My mother is already on the waiting list.

No Easy Task. As a long time friend of a residnet in the care of Carlton Plaza San Jose, I have seen first hand the the quality of care provided in this community. The challenges that are faced in the day to day care of our loved ones is not an easy task. Given that, I think this community is doing a fine job. I believe the owners and staff are caring and compassionate. Things could be better....and I trust they are working on making improvements every day to provide a loving and caring enivironment to those in their charge. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Carlton Plaza to my friends or family.

Poor Care!. I have a relative currently residing at this poor excuse for an Assisted Living facility. We were promised that the food was delicious and that there were lots of activities to participate in. Instead I have personally tasted the barely edible reheated food and witnessed the sedintary activities. She is constantly ignored when she asks for things like assistance to the restroom (even though we have been charged extra for this service) or maintenance on her apartment (carpets are dirty and they won't clean them) and she is paying over $6000 a month to live there. We are currently looking for another facility for her. The so called manager of the facility is a woman who has repeatedly lied to me and my other relatives about care and staffing and I just found out that they do not have a nurse on staff as required, so if anything were to happen to any of the residents there is no one to care for them. Don't do this to your relatives. No one deserves this facilities poor care!
