The Golden Age of cinema lives on at this historic movie palace..
The Scene
This 175-seat movie palace has been meticulously restored to its 1925-era grandeur by former classics professor David Packard Jr., son of the computer tycoon. Plush red-mohair seats, elaborate ceiling paintings, and magnificent tile work in the lobby take audiences back in time. The theater is decorated with old movie posters, such as "Laura" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's." True to the era, and features a standalone glass-encased ticket booth. An organist often accompanies silent films on the theater's Wurlitzer, as well as playing before features.
movie lovers delight!!. i have been going to the Stanford Theatre for years, there is nothing like it. if you're into old films, this is the place to be (renting isn't the same). i saw "casablanca" for the first time here and the magic this theatre conveys, just made this movie experience very sweet. parking can be hard, so leave as early as you can, and enjoy dinner at one of the nearby restaurants while you wait for the movie to start. there is pizza, sandwiches and restaurants that vary in price. Go! GO! GO!!! i guarantee, you will not be disappointed.
GREAT DATE. My husband took me here to see an old classic film...we spent a romantic evening munching the most wonderful popcorn I have had in a long time. Loved it!
