The Scene
Big beer halls with tall ceilings accommodate huge vats of tasty brews at this location, which also has a particularly attractive patio area. At Tied House, young professionals mingle with serious beer connoisseurs in a sports fan-friendly environment.
The Food
Tied House brews have received many awards, including 13 Great American Beer Festival medals. The Cascade amber is the most popular and is quite good. The Alpine Gold ale is clean in both hop aroma and finish. Look for seasonal brews such as the strong IPA. Pair your pints with pub grub like burgers, a sausage sampler plate and the huge servings of black-bean nachos.

We go to the Tied House because we like the beer, but the menu is a bit limited and the kids are never happy to eat there. It seems more like a bar that serves food than a full service restaurant.

I've been going to both the Mt View and San Jose locations for many years. The food used to be pretty good and (I suspect) the salmon fish and chips still is, but the rest of the menu is pretty poor. I had barley crusted trout this evening and it was served on a cold plate so it was cold in seconds, it was over breaded, dry, and generally tasteless. The baby greens salad had nice greens but the avocado was not ripe and there was too much dressing with too much vinegar. So to just have a beer and maybe some nachos its fine, but for dinner I am sorry to recommend that you go somewhere else.

I've eaten here three times and found it to be a bad experiance everytime. The service is terribly slow. I almost didn't give it a second chance but it's right on San Pedro and the prices are good. But the second AND the third time, the service was so slow. They weren't busy at all every time I went there so I'm not sure why the service is so bad. I would never eat there again. I don't care how inexpensive it is, it's not worth waiting an hour to eat. I would recommend walking a few steps to one of the other restaurants on this street.
