Consistently fantastic Thai food. I value consistency, and this is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the Bay area. The food is fresh, spices are amazing; the noodles and rice are so flavorful! I love the squid with basil. The garlic fried prawns is yummy. They also have a fried oyster that one must try.

The only complaint is the portion. The squid dish has 10 pieces or less. Lunch is a value; dinner gets expensive.

As REAL as I have seen Thai around here. I have had the pleasure of actually visiting Thailand back in 2000 for a short visit. And having had that experience it has opened my eyes to the fact that most Thai restaurants in the USA don't serve REAL Thai food. They go easy on the spices. Or they load plates up with cheap vegetables to increase dish volume and profits, while sacraficing taste... Well this restaurant doesn't do these things. The food here is hot and spicy as it should be. The staff wears authentic clothing as you'd find in Bangkok. The decor is Thai. I can say the service isn't top notch, but the food absolutely is!!! And that will keep you coming back.

good spices. I ate at the other Krung Thai down the street and I thought of it as a below average Thai restaurant. However, the New Krung Thai had a much better ambience with a beautifully decorated room and much more tasty food. Service was good as well in that the dishes came quickly. I started off with a Thai ice tea which was quiet tasty. For the main dishes we ordered pad Thai, jungle curry, cod in panang curry, and panang tofu. I would not recommend ordering two dishes with the same curry; however, my partners insisted. The pad Thai was excellent with the extra crushed red peppers on the side. The jungle curry was also very good with rice. The panang dishes were decent. Overall, the New Krung Thai is a relaxed place to eat with many diverse dishes on the menu.
