I completely agree with Trekk, below. Not only does GOOGLE not vet any of the reviews it posts, it ignores blatantly false information. I have a small business and I did not even want to have my business on GOOGLE. They have forced me to have my business on their site and they will not take down a bogus review even though they know it to be false. Also, they will not even take the time to respond to my concerns and are completely inaccessible to the public. They only take calls from paying customers who pay money to buy an advertisement from them. Finally, when my real clients have tried to post reviews, they have been prevented from doing so. This is a scary corporation that is completely undemocratic and also corrupt.

Google needs to properly screen bad reviews for authenticity. It is amazing that Google allows negative reviews without first finding out if the person definitely had business with the place being reviewed. The person should also have to put a real name and real contact info. I have had definite defamation of character reviews that I am certain has been written by another competing business in my community. I have absolutely not written any bad press about this business but it appears in their paranoia they are blaming me (on Google or CitySearch for their bad review by a real client) and thus have now put a bad review on my review page of Google Maps. This current review is a complete defamation of my character and will be dealt with my my internet law attorney. I would like Google to respond to this matter as it appears to be becoming more common for businesses to place bad reviews on other businesses instead of honestly garnering business the old fashioned way - via client referral or one's own efforts at honestly marketing your business. This other business continues to disparage my good reputation and has also sent me in writing a letter of extortion to pay them to not write a bad review. I have kept all of this as evidence and am just waiting for the right opportunity to take them to court. Thanks for hearing me out Google. I really appreciate your due diligence in getting bad reviews accounted for properly..by asking for defined examples, receipts of being at the business and exact interaction with business. In my case, they would have nothing as the review is totally false, misleading and completely involves defamation of character which is a huge liability - especially involving licenses of supposed "professionals" that are approved by the State of California Board
