Horrible Service , Discriminated against. My family went to this restaurant, it was overly crowded and the service was horrible. There is a female who takes the phone orders when you walk into the restaurant, we asked her if we should give our name to her so that we can be seated she said no I have to wait for someone else because she only takes phone orders, we said ok no problem. Once we located the "correct" person we were seated. After being seated, we waited for 10 mins before a waiter noticed us but that was only because they happened to seat another couple in front of us. After I flagged the waiter, we ordered some food and a glass of wine and water before the waiter went to the other couple who was seated after us who waited only for 2 mins for the waiter to take there order, I called him, he said 1 min we said ok no problem, we waited patiently while he completed with the couple and then we walked away. I had my 10 month baby with me and wanted to order something for him. The waiter served the other people in that same area and brought the couple who was seated after us there beers , food , water and walked away, NOW its 25 mins and I still didn't add to my order for my baby. At this point we are getting up to walk away and he brings the wine and water, we told him we will leave because we waited 30 mins to get a glass of water. He said ok we will give you a receipt for the wine, at this point I went inside and asked to speak to the manager the lady at the desk who is taking the phone orders told me tell me what happened , the moment I started to tell her, she turned and started to talk to another waiter through a small window. At that point I turned around and the waiter was now speaking to the "manager" and he comes over and says here is your bill for the glass of wine and he basically hurried us out of the place and he didn't want to hear anything, we paid the money and left feeling , ill treated and discriminated against.

Disappointing meal - good service. My family has visited Amarin on multiple occassions, always with good reviews on the quality of the food, however the portions do tend to be on the small side. On my son's sixteenth birthday we decided to return and were dissapointed in both the quality and of our dishes and the serivce we received. The hot and sour soup was good however we were shocked at the amount of woody ginger root that we had to set aside! The green chicken curry was flavorful enough however the dish would have been better named bamboo shoot curry - the chicken was almost nonexistent; at most we found 2 tiny chicken slivers in an abundant sauce with what appeared to be half a can of slivered bamboo shoots. Our tamarind shrimp was delivered cold to the table and contained only three shrimps of medium size despite the claim of containing jumbo shrimp. Once I was able to get a wait person to the table and gave them the information about our meal, I was promised a manager would be notified. The check was delivered to us with no response and no explanation. We noted on the way out that a banner in the window of the resturant touted Amarin as the best Thai Food of 2007 by the Mountain View Voice; however our family is sure there are much better Thai choices in the Bay Area for us to discover.

A good variety of crowd, but slow service. I think this is a pretty good Thai restaurant in the south bay area. I always like the international mix of crowd when I am here, and it is always busy. I specially like the Roasted duck with red curry dish and the Pork Basil. It's great with rice. The food is good, but sometimes when it gets busy, the service is slow. Or to be precise, it takes time to have a waiter come get your order. Once the order is in, it is pretty fast. But overall, I like this place as a "easy" thai food place.

Bad customer service; mediocre food. Went there with 4 co-workers for Thursday lunch. When I ordered my pad thai, I pointed to #1 pad thai that contains chicken and shrimp for $7.95. When the bill comes, I'm charged $9.95. We ask the waitress to correct this mistake. She says I ordered shrimp only, which costs $9.95. I told her that that was not what I wanted and if the dish came as shrimp only, it was their mistake, not mine, and I shouldn't be charged for that. She realizes this is her mistake and confirms that I had ordered #1. She talks to the owner to get a price adjustment and comes back accusing me of ordering a dinner portion, which would be $9.95 anyway. This is completely outrageous because I was clearly handed the lunch menu and she confirmed that I had ordered #1 for $7.95. The owner hears our continued discussion with the waitress and yells, "It's not a big deal!" in reference to our concern over the 2 bucks, which is completely rude and unprofessional. I could care less about the 2 bucks. At this point, it was the principle, not the 2 bucks. We get the corrected bill back and I saw that I was being charged $8.95 instead of $9.95. At this point, I was just really irritated. We grabbed the attention of another waiter finally got it resolved. I would not recommend this place because of the bad customer service and their condescending attitude. Their food is mediocre anyway. If they put that much MSG in their food, at least make it taste good.

Consistently good. Amarin serves huge portions at good prices. The Bangkok Chicken is to die for!! They have a nice lunch menu and a lot of outdoor seating on Castro and in the back patio. I prefer the street seating. Pad-see-ewe is my favorite noodle dish and the size is perfect for lunch. We have eaten here many, many times and never been disapppointed!! It is always clean, has a pleasant atmosphere, and provides quick service!!
