Took the kids- thought it was great.
It was good food for a reasonable price. Anytime I can eat for $40-$45 bucks with my wife & 2 kids I'm a happy camper. We love Thai, and to try 3-4 things plus appetizers at a place with $15-20 entrees kills the bank. This is reasonable sized portions for a reasonable price and everything we had was really good- Silver Noodle Soup for the kids, Spicy soup for mom & dad, we shared a curry & kids had tofu & vegetables- all good. Oh yeah, kids had satay too, really nice chicken pieces- with some left for dad. An aquarium with grotesquely large goldfish entertains the kids. Sa-by caters to take-out, San Jose State, and locals like us, and is not a romantic dinner destination but a reasonably priced place to get a good meal near downtown.

Large Menu, Average Food.
Sa-By is located two blocks south of San Jose State, between 7th and 8th streets. The food is average, though they do cook tofu very well. The pad thai was below average, New Tung Tee Noodle on the other side of campus makes a better pad thai. The curries are okay, the green is very good, very spicy, and the eggplant is roasted to perfection. The shrimp salad was eh, and their fried appetizers are done well, nothing greasy at all. Singha beer has a crisp, clean flavor that goes well with spicy foods. Overall, I can't really recommend coming to Sa-By, but if you live close enough, they deliver.

I love this place!.
The food's great, and the service is excellent. Unfortunately it doesn't see much business, but it's a little off the beaten path. Food made just the way you ask for it.
