Horrible Headmaster - Julie Blackwell
by Good Samaritan at Citysearch
In the very same handout that bears her name, it asks parents "Please be patient the first week of school as parents new to Challenger learn the routine". Yet, on the third day of a new school year, she is heard outside at the drop-off area, yelling at and demanding pre-K parents that only drive-through is allowed. She is simply being unreasonable about parents' unknowing mistake of wanting to walk their kids to class and maybe have a quick chat with the teachers to make sure everything is OK. Did I indicate that these are pre-K parents who are sending their kids off the very first time? She may be successful, but so is DSK (Dominique Strauss-Kahn) - head of IMF. Challenger may be strong academically, however, it fails to teach kids moral value and common decency. As an educator and example to the kids, her behavior is shameful.

I love that I have found such a great school for my daughter! I visited several Challenger schools, and they all seemed nice...but the Harwood campus is the place to go! The campus is just beautiful-the rooms, the landscaping, and the view. The office is friendly and responsive, and the classes are VERY diverse! There is a great mix if Asian, Indian, Caucasian, African-American...even students from around the world like Russia, Holland, etc. My daughter is learning so much, making tons of friends, and having a blast!
Challenger Harwood - If you value diversity and equity - think again!

Challenger- Harwood campus - very homogenous community, where children who are not Indian or Asian are blatantly not welcomed. In fact, I was told that the school was not equipped for caucasian boys are teachers are not used to their energy. Used to smaller, more docile children. Director admitted to me that my son's ethnicity, gender and size made him not a good fit for Challenger......I have never been so appalled and I have my Masters in Education, to find blatant racism by a Pre-school of all things!!!
- Pros: car line
- Cons: lack of diversity within staff, teacher and student body resulting in blatant intolerance.
