Tips for P.F. Chang's

This gussied-up chain bustles with singles and families craving Chinese food favorites.. In Short
Towering twin stallions and carved wood screens add majesty and mystery to this stylish restaurant, where well-dressed patrons sip martinis at the bar and families with children feast around large tables or in spacious booths. The menu gives Chinese classics a contemporary tweak; dishes are artfully presented, with many sauces made tableside by servers. Signature plates include diced chicken wrapped in cool lettuce leaves, orange-peel beef with chili peppers, and wok-fried scallops with lemon sauce.

Try your luck?. I went here once with a friend. The place was pretty packed, but we were seated within twenty minutes-- possibly because we were just a party of two and could be tucked away nearly anywhere. The food was okay-- not great, not bad, not exactly "authentic" Chinese, but I don't think the target consumer of the restaurant is necessarily Asian. Anyway, the service was pretty slow-- maybe because it was crowded, but our waitress certainly passed us by several times without so much as a glance in our direction (we were seated in a central part of the dining area, not in a nook or cranny). She pretty much ignored us entirely after she brought us the bill-- forgetful? I don't know. I ended up paying in cash rather than wait for her (which we did, for about ten to fifteen minutes before deciding to stop wasting time waiting for her to get back to us). The decor is nice, I recommend that, and the restaurant seemed popular for group meals-- not the best for romance, though, since it was pretty loud.

Happy Hour Anyone?. Met some friends for dinner and waited an hour at the bar before we were seated. Had a couple of cocktails and wonderful appetizers but by the time we were seated, we were all a bit stuffed. We managed to order a few dishes and finish them all. Maybe, it was the fact that we weren't quite as hungy that the food was OK; nothing to write home about. Being Asian, there wasn't a dish that we had that was really out of the ordinary. Certainly a great place for drinks and appetizers.
