What People Are Saying About Pizza Antica

The Scene
The swanky South Bay set flocks to this spare, no-frills pizza joint. Laden with designer-emblazoned shopping bags, these glamour girls don't look like bargain hunters, but maybe Antica's crazy-affordable pizzas are preserving their shopping allowances. Harried young servers struggle to keep up with demand--be patient or eat elsewhere.

The Food
The 16-inch, super-thin crusts, bubbled and mottled from the oven's high heat, are topped with a swirl of sophisticated flavors. Designer combos, such as grilled radicchio, goat cheese, crunchy pancetta and pesto, or the heirloom potato and truffle oil, make it clear that these pizzas are something special. But for a true test of this pizzeria's mettle, try the classic No. 2--the thin, blistery crust is topped with a smattering of fragrant tomato sauces, fresh mozzarella and a sprinkling of basil chiffonade. Beyond pizza, try a robust, overstuffed panini stuffed with applewood smoked ham, fontina and pickled balsamic onions and a very respectable long-leaf Caesar salad.

I love this place. Its really good pizza, but your bill can be up there. Parking stinks because it is at Santana Row and it can be crowded in the resturant as well.

The atmosphere is nice, the servers are pretty nice, and the entrees are consistently delicious. I love the crispy thin crust pizzas and recommend pizzas # 4 & 8 with tomato sauce and the spaghettini with sausages! The salads are really good too but a little on the pricier side. Love the fact you can dine indoors or outdoors (heated lamps make you nice and toasty).

I usually don't eat pizza too often but with all the rave reviews I had to see what all the hype was about. Pizza Antica makes unbelievably fantastic pizza. I've never had thin-crust pizza this good. The mushroom pizza is to die for! For appetizers, I highly recommend the fried artichokes. Also, Pizza Antica officially serves the best caesar salad I have ever had. The lettuce is chilled and tastes fresh enough to have been straight from the garden. The salad isn't over dressed and the croutons bring a buttery taste to the salad, I love it. Surprisingly Pizza Antica also offers quite an impressive winelist. The only thing I can really knock about Pizza Antica is that it's a bit expensive for Pizza. Depending on the day you come, the wait can be extremely long but is definitely worth it.

The Details on Pizza Antica

The Waiting Game:

No reservations mean long waits inside. Bring a sweater and sit out at one of the sidewalk tables.

Wine and Dine:

The wine list is just as bargain-conscious as the menu. Wines are offered at fair prices by the glass and bottle, but beware the half carafe prices--the carafe in question is small, serving only two full glasses.
