The ULTIMATE couples treatment

  • Revolutionary Oxygen Facials
  • Deep healing bodywork
  • Uber clean, luxurious man/ped

Couples spa day - you each climb on your massage beds, the massage begins, and in 10 minutes...you are zoned out. A good massage releases endorphines that induce deep relaxation, which makes you oblivious to anyone else in the room.

We offer a truly romantic, interactive, and private couples treatment that you will remember long after. The Pair's Polish is our couples treatment, which begins as you are brought to the Tropical Rainforest Room by a therapist who hands you the body scrub and the body mask, then departs the room. You proceed to exfoliate each other with the scrub. Then you slather the strawberry and honey based mask on each other's bodies. Jungle mist (steam) soon permeates the room. The room is later engulfed in a warm, heavy tropical rain. Dip in a soaking tub for two and enjoy a 100 gallon a minute waterfall. Complete the experience with a pair of massages.

Editorial Review for Tru – by Jane Tunks

The Scene
With an all-white color scheme and gleaming bamboo floors, this shrine to minimalism is worlds away from the bustling Chinatown streets outside. Push through a silver-beaded curtain to the well-appointed locker room, stocked with a dizzying array of luxe beauty products. Before your treatment, unwind with a steaming-hot shower or lollygag in the waiting area while nibbling on childhood-inspired snacks, such as brownies and cheese and crackers.

The Services
Starting at a minimum 75 minutes, massages are customized to each client's needs, utilizing Swedish, deep tissue and trigger-point techniques. Follow up with the Tru O2 facial, in which a skilled esthetician deep cleanses, hydrates and purifies your skin. The unique Tropical Rainforest Room is tricked out with sprinklers that rain down warm water followed by a shower under a stream of water that gushes from the ceiling. Though facilities are elegant and serene, spa-goers looking for a whirlpool, steam room or sauna will be disappointed.

The Details
Massage, body treatments, wet treatments, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning, manicure/pedicure, waterfall shower.

I have never written an online review for any establishment I've visited but I felt compelled to warn future clients about Tru Spa after my own harrowing experience. My friend and I were visiting SF and were looking forward to pampering ourselves with a nice facial during our trip. No strangers to spa treatments, we were quite excited to try out the Tru02 facial based on the glowing reviews posted on City Search. We checked in at the front desk and were later ushered into the back and given our robes and slippers to change into. The robes were stiff and extremely rough and my sandals were uncomfortable because there were various cracks all along the top. Not a great first impression but again, the glowing reviews subdued any reservations I was feeling. My name was called and I was escorted to the treatment room by my facialist. The room was basically one bed with spa equipment hidden behind this cheap-looking gauze curtain. Instead of a dimly lit room with soothing music in the background, the room was sunlight-drenched with pop music blaring through their speaker system. Not exactly the relaxing experience I was expecting. Despite all this, all would have been forgiven had the facial been satisfying. Needless to say, the experience was beyond disappointing. The facialist didn't even ask what type of skin I had and then proceeded to slather my face with various oils (I have combo skin, btw) and exfoliants. She didn't bother to apply a headband barrier so all the oils and creams proceeded to run down pass my hairline and into my hair. After my facial, I walk over to the mirror and realize that my face is extremely shiny and slick from the products used and my hair looks like I've dunked my head in a vat of grease! In the end, I washed my greasy face & hair and vowed to warn others of my experience. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!

How have I not heard about this spa until this year?! I had a gift card to Relax Now and found out they went out of business. I was directed (via their phone message) to call Tru to redeem the gift card. Well little did i know that was my lucky day. I found the cities best technician's ever in Tru. My face glowed like never before after their Tru02 Plus facial (with oxygen and LED treatment included amongst other customized incredible products). I had Scot for a massage and he was fantastic (since then I have also had massages with Rhonda, Sarah and Eric, all of which were top notch!). I can not wait to get back to experience some of their other treatments, including this Rain Forrest room which sounds so fun. I am surprised at some of the poor reviews they get as my experience was very very good. I am also shocked I'd never heard of them before as I found out recently they've been open for over 5 years. I'm so happy I've found them!

Pros: facials, oxygen, atmosphere, staff
