Very tasty n friendly sushi restaurant!. I was at Hanamaru sushi restaurant on Friday with my friends.

Alothough it takes about on an hour from San francisco to drive to sunnyvale, it was definitely worth it.

The restaurant doesn't look super fancy, but their interior looks clean and cute.

We sit in the bar, the sushi chef was very friendly(although his english wasn't good), the food was yummy.

Actually, I though this place is even better than some japanese restaurant in Japan town.

I and my friends really enjoyed the food and the service!

It was one of the best japanese restaurant!

nothing special. Saw the reviews and thought I would give it a try today (6/24/07). Since it's close to closing, and there were not many sushi boats flowing, I decided not to take the sushi bar. Ordered 3 appetizers, 7 kinds of nigiri (2 pc each), 1 handroll, 1 roll. Fish was on the thin side, and tasted bland. Rice was a bit more. I was really hoping my stomach would be tough enuf when I was downing Uni and Amaebi, which were the Today's sepcials, and didn't taste very fresh to me (I wondered if I fell for the notorious trap, restaurants' Today specials). Gyoza (5 pc) were tiny, but quite delicious. The other appetizers didn't disappoint me, but they didn't surprise me either. All in all, The food was decent.

I should mention (I think) I got a complimentary miso soup from the house. The chef greeted me from behind the sushi bar, even though I was sitting at a table. The waitstaff were courteous, they didn't rush me past 2130, their closing time.

Hanamaru. Very good sushi/sauces and the sushi chef's are very friendly! Some of the waitresses are a bit "cold" but that's OK. I go at least 1 a week and they remember my order.

Very good quality, even better price!. I ate here twice while visiting friends it was so good! In addition, very affordable compared to other Sushi restaurants I've visited in the area. Small, quiet and unassuming atmosphere, a little out of the way but worth giving it a try if you're around Sunnyvale.

Nothing fancy but great sushi. I have been here several times since moving into the area and the sushi has always been fresh and good. The locals seem to already know this little spot since it can get very busy at times but the service is always friendly and prompt. They have sushi coming around on the boats but the chefs will make whatever you ask. Good variety and creative choices.

fresh and fun. Hanamaru has become our favorite sushi spot, the owner and workers are always friendly and the fish is always always fresh!! :)

I like sitting at the sushi bar and ask the sushi chefs directly what I'd like. :)

Highly recommend!!!
