Tips for Pasta Trattoria

Great food!. I love this place. Although I order the same thing every time, I try my girlfriends plate and they have never yet to fail me. Its hard to get past the panne alfrado with the delicious italian sausage, my all time favorite! I love the service and the waiters are quite easy on the eyes my girlfriend mentioned.

Great place for Pasta ofcourse!. This is a nice restaurant for some good pasta and desserts! We were craving a good pasta fix, and they delivered. While the ambience and decor isn't noteworthy, the staff is quite friendly and it seemed like the folks eating at the bar were regulars to this joint. I would go there again, but this time just for dessert on an empty stomach!

Extremely Rude Service. The staff was extremely rude and not friendly at all. On the other hand the food was good and fast. So if you don't care if they're nice to you; you can go here for fast budget Italian food. However, don't expect anyone to come back and ask you how everything was or for them to say thank you come again. I gave one star for the rude staff.

We were seated right away but had to ask for a waiter after about ten minutes of everyone passing us by. Once we placed our order all the food came very fast without a word from the staff. After we ate the staff came by and took our plates. Again did not say a word. We had to flag down our waiter to ask if we could have dessert. We got dessert and then again had to flag down our unfriendly waiter for our check. It was the strangest waiter experience I have ever had. I won?t go back here. There are plenty of on restaurants on Castro to chose from.

Very good pasta, great staff. I am not sure where "sionnan" went to eat, but I would have to totally disagree. Pasta is one of the better Italian places in Mountain View. It is simple, not overly to-doy food. Both my boyfriend and I come from Italian families and frequently travel to Italy. I would have to disagree that it is not authentic. First off, in Italy good luck finding fish separated from the gray let alone the bone, though I have not had this same experience at Pasta?. The food has always been good. I have ordered several items off of the menu and always been pleased, including both items "sionnan" mentions. We have brought our friends and Italian families there and they have also been pleased. The staff is quick and extremely personable. I don't think we have ever been in there and not been given complimentary dessert or a drink at the end of the meal (another very authentic Italian perk). I would definitely recommend. But if you want some over priced, over displayed and complicated meal, perhaps not. If you would like a well priced, well portioned meal at a place with a lot of charisma then Pasta? is great. BTW - Why would you go to a place you don't like 2-3 times?!?

Not worth it. I have been to Pasta? on Castro street two or three times and have not been pleased. The wait staff was about average, and we were seated in a timely fashion. Yet I have consistently not enjoyed the food. I had a salmon pasta in cream sauce which I should have taken back, they did not separate the dark meat from the salmon before putting it in the sauce, so the whole dish had a very unpleasant "old fish" smell and taste. Before that, I had the gnocchi with creamy truffle sauce. The fontina cheese was too heavy for the supposed truffle flavor which was decidedly absent.

They have huge portions, if you care to finish them, but I would call this a below average cliche Italian restaurant. Not for the culinarily inclined. Definitely not for Italians, it would only disappoint. The price is too high for the quality of the food.
