There are muffins, breads and cookies to be had, but the Palo Alto original has built its reputation on cakes: chocolate decadence, German chocolate, poppyseed pound cake, pineapple banana cake, pumpkin cheesecake and so forth. Chocolate cakes are best-sellers, whether with rum cream cheese frosting, coffee cream cheese frosting, orange almond or just more chocolate. There is also a lunch menu, offering gourmet salads and sandwiches for a reasonable price.
