Editorial Review for Vault Ultra Lounge – by Lily Fu

In Short
Located in the San Pedro Square area, this 9,500-square-foot club takes its name from an old bank building, retaining much of the original decor, including a Tiffany-glass skylight and a decorative staircase that leads to a theater-style balcony. Singles groove on two dance floors that feature DJs spinning Top 40, old-school hip-hop and house music. The club also offers bottle service in the VIP room, decorated with a fireplace and wood walls.

This place was really good a few years (circa 2000) but it has seriously gone down from there. First of all, there's the cover charge: $20. I know businesses have to find a way to stay afloat but charging $20 for 3 hours of mediocre DJs and snobby, self-important bartenders (who are kind of douche-y) serving watered-down drinks should be a crime. The crowd is a strange mixture of college kids, middle-aged partiers and lecherous old guys giving said scantily clad, coeds really disgusting looks. Finally, a word about the people handling the lines outside: POMPOUS. They're rude, abnoxious, and will ignore you if you don't 1) kiss up to them 2) Agree to spend obscene amounts of money on "bottle service" 3) Look like a done-up hussy or a greasy guy in a discount suit (as they do). Bottom line: It's a VAULT? Someone should close it, lock it, and throw away the key.

Pros: you can leave.

Cons: it exists.

Send your bouncers to Bouncer Training 101. Those idiots do not even know how to "SAFELY" break up a fight! The place is dangerous enough being in the middle of downtown San Jose! Management, you are putting everyone that goes into that place at RISK! I am sure you want to avoid lawsuits.

Cons: Untrained bouncers
