But, some of the food came out cold, and it was hard to get the server's attention for drink refills. I'll probably try to go there again for breakfast, because I heard they have good dim sum there.
Not for the American palette. This restaurant, which is too large to provide intimate dining, does offer small private dining rooms. This feature is the only thing I liked about Dynasty. The food is probably great for natives of China who are accustomed to authentic Chinese cuisine. For me, I guess it was simply too authentic. The private party I attended in one of their small rooms had great service but when I've dined in the big restaurant, it has been fairly slow. A better chinese restaurant for a more western palette is Mandarin Gourmet on De Anza. I've attended large community luncheons at Dynasty and the service has been so slow that I've not been served most of the dishes before the event was planned to be over and I needed to be back at work. When this restaurant hosted a Chamber of Commerce event, they did not include wine with the appetizers, which is customary for Chamber hosts to do. Instead they served wine and charged their guests. Even non-restaurant businesses serve a glass of wine to their guests when they host events. I cannot give Dynasty a good recommendation.
Worst service, ever.
This is the worst service I have ever seen in a restaurant. We were sitting at a table as part of a big party with a set dinner menu. It also included a kids menu with Chao Mein and Rice. Since those are pretty much the only items my 4 year old son eats at a Chinese restaurant we asked at the beginning if it was possible to bring the noodles early for the kids. To make a long story short they did not pay attention to our (and some other gusts) repeated requests to bring the kids food first, or at least bring a small cup of noodles. It was absolutely stunning, like you were talking to robots who just repeat a script: "We have noodles, we bring it later". We had to watch the kid stay hungry for one and a half hours until finally they brought a mediocre noodles. If we knew they are going to do this we would have left long ago.
Besides the awful service here are other items to consider:
Food quality: Average, OK if you love Americanized version of Chinese food.
Cleanliness: Not good, some glasses were visibly dirty. One of the glasses was cracked, after we showed it to a waiter, he took it and never returned with a replacement!
Best Chinese banquet service and food. The management staff and the wait staff at Dynasty Seafood were fantastic hosts and the food was fantastic. I hosted a dinner for a group of 13 Chinese diplomats (28 people in total) in one of Dynasty's banquet rooms. Our Chinese guests remarked that the food prepared at Dynasty was the 'best' they had had during their 2 week trip to the US. They even raved that the food was better (and as authentic) as the best food served in Beijing. Even the diplomat's translators (Chinese-American) expressed their personal thanks and high marks for the food and service. Esmond Su, Manager of Dynasty, deserves special thanks for accomodating our event.
