Good and authentic Indian food.
good and authentic indian food..I also liked the ambience of it!!
service is a bit on the slower side and the food is not that economical
Watch out!! they discrimate you .....
I recently went to Shiva for lunch with my 2 year old, and had a very horrible experience! I am ashamed to say there are restaurants with such attitude... We were both very hungry and were looking to seat quickly and grab the buffet. Even though there was an empty table, they wouldn't seat me -- the reasons given were: oh well, i cannot seat you on this table your kid is going to make a mess, and main traffic goes here so i cannot give this table to you ... i was shocked at how i was treated... they actually sent me back.
If you want to be discriminated for one reason or the other, go here .....
Really bad experience. I had a really bad experience at this restaurant - very bad food (thought saw something in the food) and real bad service.
Dont go!! To Shiva's !!. Hopeless place , rude hostess and equally bad quality food. We were asked repeatedly even before being seated whether we will be done in 1 hour ? I mean whats the hurry??? Then even before we could finish our starters our main course was put on the table and the waitress left ... By the time we were ready to eat our dinner it was all cold and the naan was like rubber...... Top all this with exorbitant prices and you think why did i come here? I would never recommend shiva's to anyone .
Only upscale part about this place are the prices. Very standard Indian fare with high prices. There is nothing unique or spectacular about Shivas, they actually do a buffet at lunch! $15 for average size orders of CTM and butter chicken that don't even come with any naan. I can't believe people pay these prices. Plus the service is only slightly better than what you'd find at a hole in the wall place.
Not the usual Indian buffet. Good choices and variety for Vegetarians. Tandoori Chicken was good, not too spicy. Dishes were too creamy, suitable for dieters. Appetizers include Chaat items. Service was prompt.
Happy Birthday Surprise!. We celebrated my parents 60th birthdays (same night) at Shiva's. It was a surprise, and the staff was great at keeping everything flowing accordingly. The staff was very respectful, wishing my parents a happy birthday. They not only brought out the cake that I supplied but also included their own house desserts on the house. Then they began to sing! While the food my seem a little overpriced, I think it's worth it given the ambience and service. A side note, the food is flavored from a different part of India, not often found commonly in other restaurants.
Rude hostess and dry meat.
First impressions can really make or break a restaurant experience. For us, it was arriving at 6:30pm on a Thursday night and being told that there was absolutely no seats available for at least 45 minutes, even though the place was near empty. Other couples came in and were seated immediately (without asking their names) which had us puzzled. When we asked the hostess why, she refused to say anything. Make reservations ahead of time if you want to go, or else you'll be treated to a cold hostess who tells you to wait at the bar kthanksbye.
Pros:
Aside from the hostess, the wait staff is very friendly and will see that you're taken care of. The food selection is unique and diverse, and the ambience is very nice.
Cons:
The appetizer we had (crab cakes) were covered in cayenne pepper it was overwhelming. The lamb meat was quite dry and we couldn't even finish it because it was so coarse. The Naan was a bit too thin and crispy, cracker-like for our liking.
Overall, we had a poor experience at Shiva's. There are plenty of better Indian restaurants around the bay area that will offer higher quality food without the rudeness.
Nice Place, you should check it out.. I've been to Amber few times. I really like it, their food is excellent, their service is great and the price is not bad at all. Its not your typical Indian Buffet, but they have great variety.
Better-than-average Indian food. I love Indian food. Jsut about any Indian restaurant is fine by me. Shiva's stands out for me. Not from the variety, but from the quality. The items on the lunch buffet menu are about the same as I would expect to see in most restaurants, but the tase and quality of the ingredients is higher than almost all. This is not the case for the desserts, which were OK but standard. But the main courses are really good, and the price is quite reasonable (for the lunch buffet).
