Editorial Review for Ziryab – by Lorraine Sanders
In Short
Aromatic smoke permeates the air on the front and back patios as patrons breathe in the fruits of ornately decorated hookahs and soak up the warmth emanating from the heat lamps above. Inside, yellow walls punctuated with faux stone arches flank wooden tables, where diners make their way through shared maza plates before settling on mesquite-grilled kebabs served over couscous and shawermas wrapped in lavash bread. Beer and wine selections complement the menu.

Alright, The first time I went to Ziryab................I LOVED IT!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness. Can you resist the aromas from within the restaurant? The smell of curry and many things smoked...........The patio stood out to me, the inside I couldnt help but smile and think "this is what I've been looking for". I am originally from San Francisco and I go to the city making this place one of my reasons. Here is why- (1) They play Arabic music even outside....a real plus for me. (2) I had the chicken on skewers with cuscous and a beer finishing it with turkish coffee. The meal was so good, I was silent throughout and thought can this be any more pleasant?. A very peaceful place to be, and the waitesses were so nice, very pretty and I met the owner as well. I highly recommend this restaurant, will tell as many as i can, always come back, and I encourage anyone to see what I mean. Sit outside on the patio, enjoy the aromas, enjoy the food, the atmosphere and meet the owner, he's very kind. Someone knows what they're doing here :) Also two blocks from Haight Street crossing Divisidero. A very enjoyable place to go.
Pros: Both thumbs up, from Atmosphere, service, ownership, waitresses and food all of it
Cons: None at all. Parking? Try the small streets, it's worth it.
