Tips for Sushi Tomo

dependably mediocre but fairly cheap. Sushi Tomo is mediocre all the way around, but its quick and cheap compared to the other sushi places in the area. The boats have plenty of eel and salmon, my favorites, and they will quickly make any requests. I never tip because I always eat from the boats and all they do for me is bring me a glass a water which doesn't get refilled and add up my plates. Once a waiter pestered me for a tip- I gave him $1.00. For awhile their wasabi was amazingly tasteless but they fixed that.

Tips aren't discretionary. I used to go to Sushi Tomo every week when I worked nearby because the bento box was a great deal. The food is good, but not great.

The service is severely lacking. There was one day that aside from the waitress giving my friend something she definitely didn't order (she was given sushi and she was very obviously pregnant!), our water wasn't refilled once, and we were waiting so long to get our bill that we finally had to ask for it at the front. I got chased out the door by what I think was the manager asking why I gave such a low tip. I felt like I was being accosted! Aren't tips supposed to be discretionary? I'm normally a very generous tipper, but I'm not going to give someone something for nothing. I explained to him about the lack of service, but that was embarrassing! Ever since then I haven't gone back.

horrible customer service. The sushi tastes like poo. It made me want to hurt myself, the fish tasted very old. My friends and I ate our meals for a cheap price and left, the waiter came running after us for a tip. He deserves to die. And so does every other person in that restaurant. Their just stingy and have no money because they sell disgusting 100 year old fish all day so their bitter. DON"T GO THERE. HORRIBLE FOOD. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. nothing good about it. AND IF THAT MEXICAN BOY WHO ASKED FOR THE TIP FROM ME THE OTHER DAY, YOU DON'T EVER DESERVE A TIP! ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ASK FOR IT!

good japanese food for good prices. there are two of these, one on university downtown and this one on el camino. the inside is soo cute. it was my first time at a sushi boat. the prices are more than reasonable. i ordered some sushi and some appetizers with my friends. I had a California roll, some edamame and a Shrimp Tempura roll. All were freshly prepared and tasty. The tempura was excellent. It was very crunchy and there wasn't so much batter that the shrimp was lost. They keep the water glasses and soy sauce jars full. The servers are always very friendly. my friends all ordered the bento boxes. protions are generous and i thought it was delicious. the service isnt excellent but i thought the good prices and generous portions of good food made up for it. i dont get why there were such bad reviews already up, i really liked the place. i think it caters to a more younger crowd, lots of stanford and local hschoolers seem to come.

The Absolute Epitome of Abysmal. I would never come back here unless my life depended on it. I went here with a group of about 10 people or so and it was one of the worst dining experiences in my life. First of all, it took over an hour for the waiters to come around, take our orders, and serve us our food. Over half the items I tried ordering, they said they didn't have in stock so I had to keep changing my order. What's the point in having something on your menu if you're not going to even have half of them in stock? The nigirizushi is a joke. The chef isnt even deserving of a failing score in culinary school. The rice they used was hard and dry and they put less than the size of a dime of rice under the topping which entirely unbalanced the sushi making it taste awful. The topping itself was equally bad. The fish was not fresh at all and most of it was mushy and disgusting. A friend of mine ordered the cold soba which was equally awful if not worse. It was served in a large bowl with the noodles piled up which made it look like a large portion but instead there was actually a bamboo mat in the bowl that took up half the space and then there was a huge block of ice on top of it with a thin layer of soba put on top. How on earth a place can get away serving something like this, I have no idea. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Terrible service. Terrible sushi/sashimi.. Just came from this place. Their sashimi was mushy and they insisted that I pay for 1/2 of the meal. I'm lucky if I don't get sick from this food.

When I complained to the manager about the quality of t he sashimi, he kept on saying that no one else had complained about the sushi yet (it was around 1 PM). The owner's son was the "manager" of the store and had an real attitude problem. He insisted that he had no authority to grant us a refund and wouldn't let us talk to his dad who was the owner. We were there for over 20 minutes while he kept on calling different numbers.

DO NOT goto this place.
