Rice is very tasty. I don't go there for nice treatment by the staff. I go there for Food. There are may Japanese restaurants in the area, but this place cook good Japanese food. When I miss the taste of the Japanese food I grew up with, I would come here. Especially the rice they cook is really good. Gochi's rice is horrible. For ture Japanese, RICE is IMPORTANT.
Dont eat here and bad service.
Staff is rude dont eat here I saw a r outside front door.
Buyer beware dont waste your time or money on this one
poor, unfriendly service. We went on a week night and the place was not crowded. We were not greeted when we arrived and had to wait before we were seated. The food was fine, but we felt rushed. Before even getting the check, the waitress asked us to hurry up because another group was waiting for our table. There was an open table behind us. If you would like a pleasant leisurely dinner in the company of a group of friends, try another restaurant.
If you are looking for sushi, go somewhere else. This is a Japanese "izkaiya", a restarant that specializes in small portions. This is desireable when you want to try several totally different items.
The food is excellent Japanese homestyle cooking. Some items like the kabocha au gratin might be considered fusion but it is also typical of how contemporary Japanese eat.
Tonto would be an excellent choice for entertaining a Japanese client who's getting bored with American sushi and tepanyaki.
