oh, come on! IME is really not that bad!

by chynagyrl at Citysearch

compared to other nursing schools in the bay area, IME was the best choice for me. i am a single mom and can't afford to waste time. i was able to get into the nursing program, take my pre-reqs and start the program with no hassles. i was also able to transfer previous college credit for a few classes (i was taking RN pre-reqs already) so that knocked down my tuition down as well. before starting IME i looked into other programs but they did not offer federal grants & loans. the one other nursing school that DID offer financial aid wanted over $43K for the same program...no thanks! what are they thinking!? anyway, with my grants, my total tuition price was less than half compared to other nursing schools! other schools also had crazy school schedules like 8-5p and i just can't do that. IME is 9-1p and that is like the best for someone like me because i can drop-off/pick-up my kids to school everyday.

IME is really not that bad. most teachers are genuinely concerned and have your best interests in mind. yeah, ok, it's not fancy schmancy and i have to admit there are a few kinks that need to be sorted out (parking!) but you're there to get the training to take the NCLEX, period. so you make the best of the training you get and you work hard to pass that NCLEX. in the end, it's not WHERE you went, it's if you can pass the NCLEX! you can go to the best school but if you don't have the right attitude then you will be unsuccessful.

you can't expect the school to do all the work -- you have to take initiative and be proactive in your goals and education. your success depends on your will to achieve (eh, corny but true!).

  • Pros: federal grants/loans, good tuition, great staff. 9a-1p sched
  • Cons: parking

school is a total mess/crap

by patola at Citysearch

financial aid is a joke. more than half of the staff does not speak fluent english which makes it really hard for about 99% of the class to understand what they're talking about. not to mention techers come to class late everyday or they just take days off. i am glad andrew isn't there anymore. he would sexually harass you literally. and that's why he was fired from the campus. can u imagine, having teachers that harass the students. the school is not organized at all. they don't keep track of anything. you have to know the price you're paying or they will come up to you in the middle of the month and tell you your balance is not zero when it actually is. that's why the school is a scam because if you don't pay attention to your finances, they take extra money out of your pocket. and sylvana in financial aid office is usually not there. heidi barely answers or returns your phone calls. and when you tell her you left a voice message, she would clearly deny the fact that you did even if you know for sure... god !!! this school is simply awful and a waste of money

  • Pros: good location
  • Cons: smoke on campus, uneducated staff, unprofessional professors

No follow through on promises

by mc752 at Citysearch

I paid full tuition without financial aide. Was promised an externship that would give me valuable information and on the job training. The externship was a sham, no training, I had to train myself (sink or swim). After externship, called Dominque Williams of the Institute to schedule state exam. She has never returned my call, I already paid the fee for state exam so I am stuck waiting on them! Finallly spoke with a receptionist (on 9/18/09) who told me "Dominque has been in, and has received several similar inquiries, I can connect you to her voice mail." Again, I have left messages and no response. I would not recommend them due to lack of follow-through and response to former students. What good is training if you can't take the state exam to practice your skills?

  • Pros: tuition reasonable
  • Cons: no follow through
