Greek Restaurant in Los Gatos, CA – My wife is Greek, and to celebrate New Years Eve, we went to Dio Deka for dinner, the first sitting. The special sitting for New Years Eve consisted of a 4 course dinner, $99 per person, which can be enhanced if desired. Having been married to a Greek woman for 14 years, I've had quite a sampling of real Greek food.
Our reservations were for 6:30, and we were brought to our table right on time. The first impression was a very nice restaurant, well organized, and it sure smelled good! We had the following: One of the courses was a cold lentil soup... well, not a soup really, it spent a long time in the blender, so there wasn't any texture to the soup at all. . Nothing special about the lentil soup .My wife had a greek salad, it was pretty good, but again, nothing outstanding. The other appetizer we got was a lobster tail drenched in feta cheese. Lobster's have a very mild flavor, but it was completely ruined by having it soak in a strong feta cheese sauce. So, that appetizer was completely ruined, unfortunately. At least the visual presentation was good.
We both got the same main course, the lamb chops. They were excellent, cooked excellent. But, there was nothing that really stood out in the main course other than the lamb chops. I make a mean lamb chop myself. The one thing that stood out was the portion size. The lamb chops were 4 quite large lamb chops, absolutely excellent.
We both got dessert, I had the chocolate cake with a nice smooth interior of chocolate sauce in it.
NOW FOR THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE EVENING: We will never go there again. We were placed right in the middle of the restaurant. Yes, it was loud, but I can handle that. However, the staff was oblivious about a group of 4 Indians that was about 4 tables away. Part of that group was completely smashed. One person kept talking, again in an extremely loud voice, about who was banging who at work, insulting americans, and pretty much made a non-stop yelling tirade about everything. To make matters worse, there were a few people who brought children. I felt so bad for the folks who brought children. Being 4 tables away, my wife and I had a hard time talking to each other, due to this obnoxious group of 4 yelling at each other during the entire dinner service.. Many people kept looking over that way, I tried to make eye contact, hoping that perhaps that would help, but nothing did. There is no way that the staff and management could miss what was going on. The oblivious staff, sadly enough, will keep me from returning to Dio Deka. That is too bad, I would rate the food at about 4 to 4.5, however, due to the lousy experience and oblivious staff, I would rate it at about 2.5 to 3. And, I'm being generous.

my GF had the Milfee dessert and it was to die for!
The server suggested the grilled octopus...but, next time.
Outstanding! – Absolutely delicious! I COMPLETELY disagree with some of the negative comments that have been posted. We went tonight to celebrate a special occasion, and the experience was truly amazing. The lamb meatball appetizer was a great starter, and the fish was delicious! Los Gatos is lucky to have such a culinary success!
Never again! – Noise level of this place borders health safety standards, and so does lighting. Food was OK, but nothing Greek about it. As somebody commented before, this place IS a corporate cafeteria. Wait staff are food carriers and nothing more. The whole place has no personality what-so-ever. So, people, if you miss that corporate world of ours, after being in it from 8 to 6, this is the place! If you are looking to change that scenery, avoid this place at all costs.
Our experience at DD was very unpleasent. We got right in and the staff was friendly.The only down fall was being seated next to where the food was coming out. Loud kitchen with a lot of profanity coming from the Chef.We started with an appitizer of greek spreads ($16.00).Small portions and raw pita bread.After letting the server know. it took longer to get cooked pita.Not a good selection of beer at all.The main course was great except for my wife's grilled branzino on a bed of over cooked and greasy spinach.Overall the place was nice kinda like eating at a real nice cafateria. Not what it's chocked up to be. – Nice staff. Food wasn't that great! We heard that this place would make one change their mind about Greek food if you weren't a fan. Mind you, it wasn't bad it just wasn't memorable. Except the soup that was so bad we sent it back twice. Again the staff were really nice but maybe there weren't enough? Slow getting our orders. I would not recommend. Our bill for 4 was WAY over priced for what we received. Good time w/ good friends but the food was a dissapointment after all the hoopla. Lamb chops were good.

Noisy, overpriced, Middle Eastern-rather-than-Greek, boring, good food place – Three of us went to DD to celebrate my birthday on Thursday night. Reservation lady over the phone refused to take us before 8:30 P.M. even though at 7:23 P.M., the place was 30% empty and we easily got in. We sat at the table where there was no way to read the menu, so we ended up using flash lights.
Only four kinds of beer to choose from totally puzzled us. We picked Greek Mithos (when in Rome...), and the waiter brought us warm bottles!?!?!
The noise level of the restaurant was horrendous. Very annoying music over PA mixed with corporate people at tables (mostly loud men) and extremely loud bar made us quiet for majority of the night. So...we looked forward to the Greek food that was just about to arrive.
Greek? Or Persian? Or Syrian? Or Turkish? Moroccan? Or...any other food from that neck of the woods. But ... it was very tasty. And expensive. Way too expensive for what it was. Four scoops of spreads (totaling approx. 4 oz.) were $16.00 (silver was less expensive than that just a while ago). Waiter never asked for the temperature of my girlfriend's tuna, so we turned it back since we were not into sashimi that evening, and she ended up watching us eating while they were finishing her dish. Finally, when the dish came back (it took a while), we were already finished, so...we ended up watching her eating...which was entertaining, since we could not talk at all due to the noise level that bordered health-tolerant decibel levels.
And...while there was no entertainment whatsoever inside the place that, basically, looked like fancy corporate cafeteria, a three-piece band was performing outside to literally - nobody. There was not one person listening to the very good band that played outside of the restaurant. The guy from the band told me that management needed to squeeze in more tables, so they decided to relocate them outside?!?!?! Brilliant!
All in all, overpriced for what it is, with no atmosphere to speak of, but very, very tasty.
Tremendous! – We dined at Dio Deka with a party of 12 which can be an issue for some restaurants. With Dio Deka- this was a non-issue and worked out great. We sat by the window with a large circular table and everyone was able to converse with each other. The ambiance and the food was outstanding. We dined "family style" and I found the mesquite-grilled Australian lamb chops to be my favorite dish with the octupus a close second. We will be back to enjoy the memorable experience again.
Amazing authentic Greek food, elegant yet cozy setting, excellent service! – The management/owners of Dio Deka have done an amazing job with this restaurant. Being Greek, I can vouch to the authenticity of their amazing food. The upscale restaurant also features a cozy setting and friendly yet very professional staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!
