Editorial Review for Wood Tavern – by Sarah Herringer
In Short
High ceilings, bold colored walls and a prominent bar give this restaurant a casually trendy atmosphere. Lunch and dinner draw a crowd of primarily East Bay locals in search of a high-quality, well-balanced meal. The menu features nourishing dishes such as a spring asparagus and arugula salad, rigatoni with lamb sugo and a pear crisp with a large scoop of ice cream. Numerous wines are also available by the glass.

Incredible! Best restaurant in the East Bay. Service is exceptional, food and wine are amazing. Very difficult to get a table on Fri and Sat nights - call a week+ in advance or drop in to potentially get a seat at the bar. A SF quality dining experience in the East Bay. Don't waste time reading doghairnancy's comment below. Doghair - Berkeley has plenty of vegetarian places that allow you to sip on your Wheat Grass and savor on your zucchini. Your semi-vegetatian friends probably had a good laugh over your silly complaints about the waitress. Next time, let your friends enjoy and you should just plan on stopping by the Berkeley Bowl and eating your nuts, soup and salad at home.
Pros: food, service, ambience
Cons: parking

This place is fantastic! A wonderful, cozy, delicious little hide-away! Be warned though, make a reservation WELL in advance because they only have 12 tables and a small bar area. Despite the size, they do a fantastic job of not making one feel cramped like a sardine. I've been twice and both times the overall experience has been great! GREAT food, GREAT service, SUPER GREAT wine list. Definately a must, the only problem for the non walking/bicycling folks is that there's no parking but come on.......are you surprised............it's Rockridge! Wouldn't say that this place cater's to a vegetarian/uber-health concious crowd so, if your vegan, or on a diet, please save the seats for carniverous clans!
