Good Mexican food in downtown Sunnyvale.
We needed a good Mexican restaurant in downtown Sunnyvale and Valle Sol delivers. Try the milanesa -- it's delicious. The combinations are a great deal and the portions are very generous. The sangria is good but I didn't taste much alcohol. Go with a beer instead -- Negra Modelo or an amber. The service is good and I like that they give you a couple of different salsas to go with the tortilla chips. Good ambience.

Great Food!.
During my first visit to Sunnyvale I wandered downtown looking for something to eat. My first inclination was toward sushi but fortunately for me the sushi bar was full. I crossed the street and ended up at valle sol. The food was delicious. It was a friday night and the service was a bit slow but there was a mariachi band singing and with beer in hand I enjoyed a great show and a delicious meal. Don't know if I'll ever end up in Sunnyvale again but I'll always remember the food.

Upscale Mexican Food in Sunnyvale.
My wife and I wanted to try a new place on Murphy Street in Sunnyvale. We knew the previous restaurant in its location was good and the same people owned it so we knew it wouldn't be bad. Not only was it not bad, it's GREAT.
We've been trying carnitas around the South Bay for a while now and we both agree the best is at Valle Sol. Both burrito and tacos were great. If you're looking for tons of cheese, sour cream etc. this is not the place for you. The meat alone is fantastic. They offer sour cream and guac. on the side but really it's not needed here. Other places, sure, pile it on.
We both had their house margaritas. They were a bit pricey, but that's because Valle Sol uses premium tequila and plenty of it. Not watered down drinks here. The owner himself makes the drinks and you can tell he knows what he's doing.
The atmosphere is great. It's easy to see they paid attention to detail. From the bright colored paints to the nice dishware. Unlike most Mexican restaurants, there was a lot of care given to the presentation of their food. A nice little detail was the use of tiny carafes for salsa. This is not the type of place that fills one with rice and beans only to skimp on the main item. Portions with perfect if not a little on the large side. Two soft tacos was the perfect size.
The wait staff were very polite and gave us the proper amount of attention. There's many seating choices but outside seating is very limited.
We were told they have a Mariachi band which plays on Wednesday nights but they are trying to bring them in on Fridays. Always a nice addition to kick on the weekend.
Give this place a try if you are looking for good Mexican food in Sunnyvale

Great Authentic Mexican Food.
We celebrated my son's birthday and received the best service in town in a long time considering we 18 in the group! The food was great and the children ate everything! I make my own Mexican meals at home and they sure came through with the authentic taste my family is used to. We even tried other dishes and were quite impressed! We know we will be going back again and again.
