Enjoy but Do check your bill.
We went there last Friday (10-22-2010) to have some drinks.
Friendly place, good beer, and cheap food.
Days later I checked the bills and found that on the food bill, they correctly listed the dishes that we ordered. But the subtotal was 25% more than the actual sum of the dishes. How could it be? Register malfunction? Perhaps, but it is fishy.
So I went back and complained to the manager. He could not explain how their cash register could make a mistake like that. Convenient, I say.
He did return the difference. I had to remind him to add tax to it.
So party goers, enjoy but do check your bill for correctness.
Really good burgers!. Went there for lunch, and it was pretty crowded so get there before the crowd. Atmosphere is lively and a lot of fun. Very good burgers!
Excellent Place for Burgers/Beers/Cheesteaks. This place has some great food. Lines out the front door are common during lunchtime, with many of the folks repeat offenders, that shows you this place rocks. It might take you 10-15 minutes to order, but your food is ready in no time - and you can hang out on the big outdoor patio. Tri-tip Tuesdays are excellent, get the bigger sandwich if your hungary because the regular lacks enough sliced beef - it's more of a lady's sando. Happy Hours are not even that busy, so it is a good place to go after work for some beers and burgs. They could use a few more TV's if it were a big time sports bar, but they do have a older projection bigscreen that is always on local ports. I've even seen Bill Walsh - The Genius - eat there a few times (a few years ago), so this place has to be good. They're not open Sunday to watch NFL, that is the only bummer.
Slow service. 9/18/2006. I ordered just one Guaco Burger to go. They said it would only take 5 mins. I waited. I had to ask when my burger would be ready. They said "don't worry, it's coming It took 20 mins.
Excellent. I have been going to St. Johns since 1984. I guess you will not hear anything negative from me. Burgers are EXCELLENT! Best in Town! Try the Guaco with Bacon burger you wont regret it! Everything else in their menu is also top notch. Pick any evening of the week and youll enjoy half price in both burgers and sandwiches. I take my family every Saturday morning. Cant beat paying around $22.00 to feed four of us burgers, fries, and drinks. Plenty of TVs, indoors and outdoors tables. Even if the place is packed, the line moves fast. Food is ready in 5-10 minutes.
If Norm from "Cheers" was looking for a beer and a burger in Silicon Valley, he'd come here..
The Scene
It's laid back. Order a burger and beer and then kick it at one of the wooden tables. It's appropriate for families, softball teams and couples out on dates. St. John's is a great place to watch sports events on the numerous TVs. Unlike many places, St. John's actually turns up the volume so you can hear the Giants beat the Dodgers.
The Food
St. John's touts its burgers highly--and for good reason. The 1/3-lb patties are fried to juicy perfection. Try the bacon Swiss burger, with two strips of thick-sliced bacon served on an onion roll, or the blue bacon burger. The Philly cheesesteak sandwiches boast plenty of thinly sliced steak with grilled onions, mushrooms and/or peppers. The excellent selection ranges from the upscale (El Toro) to the usual (Budweiser).
What can you say......... Saturdays are 1/2 price for burgers - even without that their burgers are the best! I'm a big fan of hamburgers and these are the best around! Try the bleu cheese burger sometime!!
Happy, happy Hour. Go during happy hour which is relatively a long period afterwork and worth it. Everyday they have a diff special. 1/2 off cheesesteaks, burgers, or appetizer days are always the best. Don't go for their Tuesday tri-tip lunch... it's not much good. Their bar is tiny, but u can always bring drinks back to ur red-checkered table.
Great burgers. Good food, nice atmosphere, burgers are the best here. easy to get to location with ample parking.
Best burgers around!. I'm not a huge burger fan, but I enjoy a good one every once in a while. I've been to Kirk's and Clark's and St. John's by far my favorite. Their fries are the BEST, and service is fast. The burgers are consistently ready within 5 min, no matter how busy. Lunch crowd can sometimes be heavy. Everything is great! Get the fries and eat them with lots of ranch, the best! On a nice day, sit outside, too dark indoors. One negative we found out by accident is that they are closed on weekend evenings. Clark's got our biz that nite, but we will always come back to St. Johns! But workout a little harder the next day or else you will pack on the pounds after one of their meals!
