The Skinny It's truth in advertising, providing a cheap and easy harbor for Santa Clara dot-commers tired of the big lunch crowds at the Mercado and McCarthy centers. It doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is: fast, cheap and convenient. The food is not spectacular. The strongest reasons to recommend Joe is that it is the only game in the area for Chinese.
What to order You'll get a lot for a little. For lunch, go with the three item combo (one item must be steamed rice, fried rice, or chow mein). Joe offers the typical American-style Chinese food lineup (plus, for some odd reason, teriyaki chicken). The egg rolls are sizable, but seasoned heavily with black pepper. Steer clear of the deadly deep-fried dishes.
