The flavors of the Baja have a home north of the border with this fast-food fish-taco restaurant.. In Short After years of traveling to Baja California and enjoying fish tacos at beachside stands, Ralph Rubio opened his first restaurant in San Diego in 1983, banking on the south-of-the-border favorite. Today, Rubio's are located throughout the Southwest serving tacos, burritos salads and more. Baja-style fish tacos are the specialty--beer-battered Alaskan Pollack, cabbage and salsa in a soft corn tortilla. Street tacos (carnitas, carne asada, chicken), quesadillas, nachos and taquitos are other popular options.
Great Baja style food..
Back home in phoenix Rubio's is all over the place, but in SJ you have to resort to the mall food court. The excellent fish tacos and Especial Burritos make it worth it and then some. One of my favorite restaraunts, period.
